Here’s What Queen Elizabeth Is Planning For Meghan Markle’s 38th Birthday

Meghan Markle might just be living the dream that every girl wants. She grew up to be an actress and then a real-life princess. She’s married to Prince Harry, and together, they share one of the most adorable babies we’ve personally ever seen.

Just when you thought her life couldn’t get any better, in walks a new report about Markle’s daily happenings. This time, a report says that Queen Elizabeth II is planning a sweet (pun intended) celebration for her granddaughter-in-law’s birthday.

Queen Elizabeth will throw Meghan Markle a tea party

According to The Sun, the queen has invited Markle (along with Prince Harry and their newborn son, Archie) to her favorite retreat Balmoral, where she’ll host a birthday tea for the Duchess of Sussex. “It is a testament to Meghan that she has been given this invite. It’s a huge [honor],” a source told the publication. “They will celebrate Meghan’s birthday, and the catering team will bake a cake to mark the occasion.”

“Meghan may be a Duchess who can have anything she wants but the Queen is giving her a thoughtful present,” the insider continued. “It’s no secret Balmoral is Her Majesty’s [favorite] home and that’s why this invite is so special and heartfelt.”

The event is scheduled some time around Markle’s birthday on August 4.

Balmoral is magical

Every summer, the queen makes her way to Balmoral Castle in Scotland — which sounds fantastical, BTW. According to People, it’s been a favorite getaway for British royals for more than 150 years because of all the activities that go on there. There, royals party, mingle with friends, ride horses, enjoy picnics, and more. (Where can we sign up?)

The trip will mark the Sussex’s first family holiday in the Scottish Highlands, which is really important to Prince Harry. “Harry wants Archie to grow up loving the Scottish countryside and learning to fish and hunt there just like he did growing up. He’s a traditionalist in that way,” a source told Vanity Fair.

The royal family just celebrated a birthday

On June 21, Prince William celebrated his 37th birthday. Hundreds of people sent the Duke of Cambridge warm and celebratory messages on social media, including Markle and Prince Harry. However, they received some backlash over their post, which fans say came off a little “cold.”

“Happy Birthday to the Duke of Cambridge!” wrote the royal couple.

There have been rumors of a growing rift between Prince Harry and Prince William for at least months now. Some sources say it has to do with an infidelity scandal dogging Prince William while other insiders say it has to do with the Duke of Cambridge’s reported opposition to his brother’s marriage. The post only fed into those rumors, especially because Markle and Prince Harry didn’t tack on their usual emojis and sweet nicknames.

But who knows. Maybe things are tense or maybe it’s all baloney. If the reports are true, though, perhaps this trip could be the first step in getting everyone calm and back on the same accord.
