Here’s Where You Can Stream the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards

It’s that time of year again for the MTV Movie & TV Awards! On Saturday, June 16, 2018, pretty much all of your favorite actors and actresses gathered at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica for the award show. You’ll be able to watch how it all goes down on Monday, June 18.

Be sure to have the popcorn and rosé ready, because here’s everything you need to know about where to stream the awards online, which stars you should expect to see, and more.

When is it on?

The MTV Movie & TV Awards will be kicking off at 9 p.m. ET on MTV. However, you can get the party started a little earlier if you want to be there for all-things TV and movies. Riverdale stars Ashleigh Murray and Vanessa Morgan will be hosting the Awards Watch Party Live, right on MTV’s Facebook page.

According to Entertainment Tonight, “They’ll offer a behind-the-scenes look at the event and prizes, among other interactive features.”

Where can you watch?

If you don’t have cable or a TV, you don’t have to be excluded from watching the awards. You can watch right on the MTV Movie & TV Awards website for a live stream of the event online, which will include behind-the-scenes interviews. You can also watch live on Fubo TV, according to Fansided. All you have to do is sign up for a free seven-day trial.

Maybe you are planning to gather around the TV for the show, in which case, you’ve got plenty of options. According to GoldDerby, “The show will be available to cable and satellite TV subscribers on the MTV family of channels as well as BET, Comedy Central, Spike, and TV Land.”

Who’s hosting?

The host of an award show can make or break the whole night, but we have seriously high expectations for the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards. Comedian Tiffany Haddish is this year’s host, and if you don’t know much about her, just know that she’s guaranteed to captivate you and make you laugh.

Her hosting gig is a historical one, as well. Haddish has become the first black woman to host the show since way back in 1992. She’s also the first female host since 2015 (when Amy Schumer hosted).

Plus, the star is nominated in four categories throughout the evening for her role in Girls Trip (2017): Best Comedic Performance, Scene Stealer, Best Musical Moment, and Best Movie.

Who are the notable presenters?

Get ready for a star-studded night at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. You may recognize the names of a few of the presenters, including Michael B. Jordan, Mila Kunis, Seth Rogen, Kristen Bell, Zendaya, Gina Rodriguez, and Common.

Are there any performances?

The award show may be all about TV and movies, but we’ll still get to catch some pretty exciting musical performances. Expect to see Nick Jonas and DJ Mustard set the stage, in addition to R&B duo Chloe x Halle.

Who’s nominated?

We weren’t kidding when we said to expect basically all of your favorite actors and actresses in one place. MTV announced the front runners, including Black Panther (2018) racking up seven nominations and Netflix’s Stranger Things with six nods.

Other notably nominated TV shows and movies include the likes of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Riverdale, 13 Reasons Why, Game of Thrones, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) — to name only a few.

Is anyone receiving significant awards?

Some celebrities have made huge accomplishments in the entertainment industry, and at the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards, they’re getting recognized for it. Actor Chris Pratt will receive the Generation Award, which honors his “contributions to film and television.”

He’s risen to the top since his days on Parks and Recreation, starring in films like The Lego Movie (2014), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Jurassic World (2015), and Passengers (2016).

This year’s Trailblazer Award will be presented to actress, producer, and screenwriter Lena Waithe, who has made a significant impact in Hollywood. Amy Doyle, general manager at MTV, VH1, and Logo, raved about the recipient.

“Lena is shaking up Hollywood and breaking cultural boundaries through her innovative and authentic storytelling,” she said. “Her unwavering passion for equality and inclusion make her the perfect recipient for this year’s Trailblazer Award.”
