Here’s Why Everyone Is Freaking out About Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson
In Hollywood, things move at a lightning pace, but singer Ariana Grande and comedian Pete Davidson’s relationship might be one of the fastest in history. Grande had previously been dating rapper Mac Miller, but in April 2018, it became clear that the pair had gone their separate ways. Shortly after that, we learned that the “Break Free” singer was seeing Davidson, and apparently, things are way more serious than we’d initially thought.
After spotting some Grande-inspired tattoos on the Saturday Night Live star, fans assumed they were super hot and heavy, but we didn’t expect this! This is why everyone is losing it over Grande and Davidson (page 6).
- The couple seemed to be taking things slow at first
Just after the Met Gala in early May 2018, news broke that Davidson and Grande were seeing each other. Apparently, the pair met in 2016 and became friends when the “Side To Side” singer hosted SNL.
At the time, a source told People that, the relationship had “just started.” The source also added, “it’s very casual.”

- Apparently, the super cute couple loves to pack on the PDA
Things seemed a bit more intense between the couple than folks initially suspected when the pair were spotted backstage at the Billboard Awards on May 18, 2018.
An insider who happened to be backstage during the awards show told People, “After Ariana’s performance, they were backstage, and he had his arm around her. They seemed very lovey-dovey. He was hanging out with her and her friends with his arm around her. She seemed quite smitten.”

A magical romance
- The couple’s chamber of secrets was opened
Though the pair still tried to keep their relationship fairly under wraps, the public was already in their business. To quiet all of the noise, the pair officially went public on May 30, 2018, and they used Harry Potter to help with their debut. On his Instagram account, Davidson posted a picture of himself and his lady in full-on Hogwarts attire.
Grande sported a Slytherin robe with Davidson wearing Gryffindor colors. The SNL star captioned the photo, “the chamber of secrets is open.” Grande slyly slid into the comments saying, “u tryna slytherin.”
How cute, but gross.
Next: Getting serious fast
- He made his love for the singer quite obvious
Fans started suspecting that things were a bit more permanent than they had initially suspected when Davidson hopped on Instagram with two new tattoos that referenced Grande. In early June 2018, Los Angeles tattoo artist London Reese shared two photos of Davidson on his Instagram with some fresh ink.
One tattoo was an image of the black bunny mask, the “No Tears Left to Cry” singer wore on the cover of her 2016 album, Dangerous Woman. Davidson also had Grande’s initials inked on his right thumb.

Defending their relationship
- He was quick to defend his relationship
Since fans were still invested in Grande’s relationship with Mac Miller, many were not too pleased about her new romance with Davidson, especially since he has struggled with mental illness.
The comedian was quick to quiet that noise. In late May 2016, he posted a note on Instagram saying,
Normally I wouldn’t comment on something like this cause like f*ck you but [I’ve] been hearing a lot of people with BPD [borderline personality disorder] can’t be in relationships’ talk. I just wanna let you know that’s not true. Just because someone has a mental illness does not mean they can’t be happy and in a relationship. It also doesn’t mean that person makes the relationship toxic.
Next: A shocking update in the couple’s relationship.
A very quick engagement
- The new couple have decided to commit to one another for life
It looks like things between the sultry songstress and the Saturday Night Live comedian have heated up even further. The couple is reportedly engaged after just a few short weeks of dating and quite frankly we can’t wrap our heads around it.
A source told People, “It’s a recent engagement. They’re just two people who found love quickly and make each other happy all the time. They both started talking about it this past weekend. It’s nothing they’ve been hiding.”
When the news about the engagement broke, Grande tweeted, “i love u.”
Next: Not rushing down the aisle
Taking it one day at a time
- The two are the perfect fit for one another
Though the two are engaged, they are reportedly not rushing down the aisle. In fact, Grande just met the comedian’s mother, Amy Waters Davidson. An insider revealed to Us Weekly, “They are a perfect fit. They are not rushing to get married. Their friends are really excited and supportive.”
We love to see people happy and in love. Congrats to the super cute couple!
