Here’s Why the Royals Might Support Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Leaving the Family
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had a lot on their plates lately. On the one hand, they’re busy continuing their royal duties and serving the public as they have committed to doing. But on the other hand, they’re battling a massive media storm, which has spiraled into a lawsuit and created chaos in their already busy lives. It has come to the point where rumors are surfacing about the two potentially leaving the royal family. Would their relatives ever support the decision?
Harry and Meghan have had a difficult time winning over the public
Ever since Harry and Meghan started dating back in 2016, they’ve had a very difficult time landing in the public’s good graces. For years, Harry had one of the highest approval ratings among any of his family members. But that started to change when Meghan came into his life. The now-duchess was almost immediately hounded by the press; since marrying Harry, she’s been labeled a bad person in various ways, from some calling her a hypocrite to others suggesting she treats her staff poorly. Now, Meghan and Harry have filed a lawsuit against three British tabloids for their poor treatment of the duchess.
Between motherhood and the lawsuit, Meghan might be at her breaking point
Things have only been getting worse, not better, as time goes on. Meghan recently told journalist Tom Bradby that she hasn’t been handling royal life well. She admitted that it’s been hard being a new mother in the spotlight and that she let her naivety get the best of her when she started dating Harry. Now, with this new lawsuit in full swing, the duchess is battling more problems than ever behind the scenes. And it’s likely brought her to her breaking point.
There have been rumors the Sussexes might exit the royal family
In light of Meghan and Harry’s ongoing drama with the British media, there have been rumors circulating that the two are considering exiting the royal family. Some avid fans of Meghan’s want the Sussexes to move to the United States, though that is a long shot. Royal correspondent Richard Palmer said in an interview that, with Meghan and Harry seemingly not enjoying themselves in the spotlight, it’s possible they may take immense action to better their quality of life altogether — and that could come in the form of making a permanent exit from the royal family.
The queen might support Harry and Meghan’s exit purely for their well being
It’s highly unlikely that the queen would ever want Harry and Meghan to leave the family, despite the stress the media has put on the royals as a whole. But the queen learned the hard way that when she prevents people from being happy, it backfires (Prince Charles and Camilla’s forbidden love, for example). With that, if Harry and Meghan truly felt they wouldn’t find happiness within the family, the queen would likely oblige and allow them to leave. And the other royals would probably follow suit; though they’re famous individually, they are all still a close-knit family and only want what is best for one another.
