‘High Fidelity’: Has the Hulu Series Starring Zoë Kravitz Been Renewed for Season 2?

Though High Fidelity was just released on Hulu a few days ago, it has already gained a lot of buzz. Many fans are probably already wondering if she Hulu series has been renewed for a second season.

What’s ‘High Fidelity’ about and is it different from the movie?

High Fidelity is a reimagining of the 2000 film of the same name, which in itself is based on the 1995 novel by Nick Hornby. The film starred John Cusack, Jack Black, Iben Hijele, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Lisa Bonet, and Joelle Carter.

Bonet’s daughter, Zoë Kravitz, is in the lead role for the Hulu series adaptation. She stars in it with Jake Lacy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, David H. Holmes, and Kingsley Ben-Adir.

The series follows Rob, described by the streaming service as “the ultimate music fan” and “a record store owner who’s obsessed with pop culture and Top Five lists.”

High Fidelity follows her reflecting on her relationships as someone new enters her life at the same time when her ex returns to town.

‘High Fidelity’ has received positive reviews from critics

High Fidelity has received mostly positive reviews from critics. It has an 86 percent rating at review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

Alison Foreman of Mashable wrote, “[H]ulu’s High Fidelity is more fun, more forgiving. Not necessarily better, but kinder, and more suited to the weeks after a breakup when you’ve picked up a new hobby, changed your hairstyle, and started to move on.”

Pittsburgh City Paper‘s Hannah Lynn said, “The jokes sometimes feel too obvious and the stakes too low. But aside from being a fun, likeable show, High Fidelity takes on the often difficult task of examining what it means to be a bad person, and when, and how much, that makes someone less deserving of love.”

What we know about a season 2

Right now, High Fidelity only received a one-season order. This means that the streaming service would need to officially renew the season for a second season. Since the show has received positive reviews and is led by a big-name start, it would seem a no-brainer to give the show a second season order.

We’ll have to wait for an official announcement to come down, but if we were to guess, a second season of the show should come around next year this time if it gets renewed.

The first full season of High Fidelity is streaming now on Hulu.
