Hilary Duff Just Teased New Music With Instagram Post
Hilary Duff is coming clean about what she’s been up to lately.
The actress and singer who played Lizzie McGuire in Disney Channel’s original series of the same name from 2001 to 2004 might have new music in the works thanks to a major hint the mother of two — she and ex-husband, Mike Comrie, share a son, Luca — casually dropped on Instagram to her nearly 14 million followers. Continue reading to learn more about Duff’s possible update on her music career.
Hilary Duff just went to a recording studio
The 32-year-old has been in the recording studio presumably making new music. Duff, who has starred in TV Land’s, Younger, since 2015 alongside Tony Award-winner, Sutton Foster, shared a picture of herself and fiancé, Matthew Koma, at a recording studio together in an Instagram post on Dec. 15, 2019.
Although Duff didn’t give anything away in the caption — she used two emojis, one of a microphone and another of headphones — that didn’t stop people from sharing their guesses at the meaning behind the picture in the comments.
People freaked out in the comments section of her post
Immediately after Duff’s Instagram post, people couldn’t help but guess the details behind her visit to the studio. Included in those comments were some jokes from fellow celebrities. Alanna Masterson, who played Tara Chambler, on AMC’s, The Walking Dead, jokingly replied to Duff’s post with a nod to her 2003 song, “Come Clean,” where she referenced the lyrics. “I have a good idea for lyrics. Goes… “let the rain fall down…” something like that,” Masterson wrote.
“Really great photo of me,” Koma, 32, remarked sarcastically about the photo of himself and his fiancée. Others commented with variations on “What does this mean?” and the ever-popular line, “This is what dreams are made of” a nod to Duff’s song from 2003’s The Lizzie McGuire Movie.
Koma and Duff have worked together before
The photo marked a reunion of sorts for Koma and Duff. The two who welcomed a daughter, Banks, in Oct. 2018, met while working on Duff’s fifth studio album, Breathe In. Breathe Out., released in 2015. Komo’s a singer, songwriter, and producer who has worked with big names in the music industry such as Bruce Springsteen, Kelly Clarkson, Zedd, Tiësto, and Alesso.
While we don’t know what exactly Duff meant by the Instagram post — she could’ve been joking around in the studio or working on something not related to her music career — we’re getting our hopes up along with every other fan of Duff’s because we’d love to get some new songs from her and see her in Disney+’s reboot of Lizzie McGuire, which is expected to premiere in 2020.
Plus, her return to music would make sense with the timing of the show. A new album would certainly play up the nostalgia factor for adults who grew up watching Duff play Lizzie. For now, we’ll watch episodes of the early-aughts series on the streaming service and await more clues from Duff on social media.
