5 Hollywood Rumors: Is ‘The Dark Tower’ TV Show Still Happening?
Every week, we take an in-depth look at the latest Hollywood rumors, from casting chatter to potential directorial choices to the latest TV revivals. This week brought us plenty more speculation, including a new teaser for Netflix’s upcoming Iron Fist, the latest on The Big Bang Theory Season 10, and the possibility of Daniel Craig returning as James Bond. Below, check out the five biggest rumors coming out of Hollywood this week.
1. Daniel Craig may have declined another huge James Bond offer
Back in May, it was rumored that Daniel Craig had turned down a nearly $100 million offer to return as 007 in two more James Bond films. But new speculation suggests that Sony has now upped the ante. According to The Telegraph, Craig has since been offered $150 million to return to the spy franchise. A source tells the publication that Sony is “desperate to secure the actor’s services while they phase in a younger long-term successor.”
Neither Craig nor Sony has publicly commented on the speculation, so it remains to be seen whether the actor will officially return to his iconic role. But it’s clear the studio is not above trying to tempt Craig back with increasingly bigger paychecks.
2. Star Trek: Discovery will pay tribute to Majel Barrett
Majel Barrett contributed a lot to the Star Trek franchise, including portraying Nurse Christine Chapel in the original series, Lwaxana Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and voicing the computer interfaces throughout the series. Now, it seems that the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery film could pay tribute to her.
Fans should take this with a grain of salt for now, but a tweet from the official Gene Roddenberry Twitter account claims that Barrett’s iconic voice could be included on the upcoming series, as seen below:
Majel’s voice is recorded phonetically, &we’re working to get her voice for things such as Siri, maybe voice of the computer on #STDiscovery

The speculation has yet to be confirmed, but additional details about the show will likely emerge within the next few months. Star Trek: Discovery is expected to appear on CBS in January 2017.
3. The Dark Tower may still get a TV adaptation
One of the early plans for Stephen King’s The Dark Tower adaptation was for it to include three films and a companion TV series. As fans know, the movie, starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey is finally moving forward, but there hasn’t been much talk of a small-screen counterpart … until now.
Producer Ron Howard recently suggested the The Dark Tower TV series is still in the works. “We’re developing the television part, now,” he told Deadline. “We don’t know what platform it will be on at this point, but we’re developing the content in hopes for more movies that will cover the epic and the characters involved.”
While the future of the franchise is clearly being plotted out, it seems as if plans for the television portion of the franchise are still only in the early phases of development. It’ll likely be a while before fans get to see a TV series, but fans can look forward to The Dark Tower movie in the meantime. The film is set to hit theaters on February 17, 2017.

Marvel and Netflix are being pretty tight-lipped about their upcoming Iron Fist series, but that hasn’t stopped star Finn Jones from dropping a few hints. The actor recently teased the arrival of fan favorite character Lei Kung to the show’s forthcoming freshman season via an Instagram post, as seen above.
Comic book buffs will recognize the brief but inspirational speech captured in the image as the one delivered to future Iron Fist, Daniel Rand by Lei Kung in the comics. As fans know, Lei Kung first appeared in Marvel Premiere #15 in 1974 and is known for passing on his martial art expertise to Rand in the mystical city of K’un-L’un.
Marvel has yet to comment on the speculation. Iron Fist is set to hit Netflix sometime in 2017.
5. The Flash may show up in The Big Bang Theory Season 10
The Big Bang Theory is known for its fun celebrity cameos, but its 10th season is taking it to the next level by featuring an unexpected hero: the Flash. According to showrunner Steve Molaro, Sheldon’s favorite comic book character will make an appearance in one of his dreams in the upcoming season. The character won’t be played by The CW’s series star Grant Gustin, but by Pretty Little Liars actor Brandon Jones.
And according to Molaro, this won’t be like the Flash that we’re all accustomed to seeing. “He does insane things. It’s a Flash we may not be used to,” he said, per Cinemablend.
The Big Bang Theory Season 10 returns to CBS on Monday, September 19, at 8:00 p.m. EST.
