How Badly Do People Want ‘The Real Housewives’ Canceled?
Reality TV is a guilty pleasure for many, especially the shows that are packed full of drama. Nowadays when people here reality TV, Keeping Up with the Kardashians and The Real Housewives franchise lead the charge. But while both shows may shine when it comes to ratings, many people really want to see The Real Housewives franchise and KUWTK canceled.
What’s ‘The Real Housewives’ franchise about anyway?
The Real Housewives is a media franchise that exposes the drama-filled lives of affluent housewives in different cities and countries around the globe. Bravo’s most popular reality show began on March 21, 2006, with The Real Housewives of Orange County. The series was so successful that it served as the blueprint for several spin-offs.
In 2008 Bravo expanded the franchise to New York City and Atlanta. In 2009 it made moves to The Garden State, New Jersey. Then in 2010 Washington D.C. and Beverly Hills got tossed in the mix. 2011 was the year Miami made its debut. 2016 Potomac and Dallas joined the roster. Some shows are better than others — RHOC (The OG) is still running to this day and The Real Housewives of D.C. got nixed after a single season.
People hate ‘The Real Housewives of Orange County’ the most
Ranker, a listicle website, allowed users to vote on which shows they thought needed to be taken off the air. Keeping Up with the Kardashians won by a landslide. At the time this article was written there were 11,611 votes for the show to be canceled. Underneath it is RHOC with 8,478 votes. That’s a pretty big difference!
Why are people hating on The Real Housewives of Orange County so much? It’s ironic considering it’s the longest lasting in the franchise, but that’s probably the very reason people want it off the air. The show has run its course and the woman featured just aren’t as interesting as they used to be. It’s pretty much the same reason people hate on KUWTK — they are sick and tired of hearing about them.
‘The Real Housewives’ franchise appears on the list several times
The Real Housewives, but there are clearly plenty of people on the other end. The franchise appears on the list a whopping six times. After RHOC, Rankers threw The Real Housewives of New York City, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills under the bus. The only current national shows missing from the list are The Real Housewives of Dallas and The Real Housewives of Potomac.
Why do people hate ‘The Real Housewives’ so much?
Specific shows have also rubbed people the wrong way. For example, The Real Housewives of Athens didn’t paint a realistic picture of the current climate of the country, decimating the local viewership. Another show that went over terrible was The Real Housewives of D.C. The show was EXTREMELY boring outside of some annoying antics, most of which didn’t happen until after the show went off the air.
Ultimately, there’s probably nothing worse than watching rich people manufacture drama for the sake of ratings. It’s not to say that rich people don’t have problems, but the sheer amount of drama caught in these shows is ridiculous. What’s worse? Seeing the same women over and over again and hearing about any and everything they do just gets boring over time. While some people love kicking back and relishing in the drama, others just find it over the top and grossly overdone. There are certainly better ways that Bravo can use all those time slots.
