Fans of The Good Wife who’ve been wanting to catch up on the streaming-only spinoff show The Good Fight but didn’t want to pay for another streaming service are in luck. CBS plans to air the entire first season of The Good Fight this summer.

New episodes of The Good Fight are only on CBS All Access

The Good Fight premiered in 2017. The show — which picks up a year after the events in the series finale of The Good Wife — was the first original drama on CBS All Access, CBS’s streaming service.

Critics have praised The Good Fight, which has helped boost the number of CBS’s streaming subscribers to an estimated 4 million. But those who aren’t willing to shell out $5.99 a month for a CBS All Access subscription haven’t been able to binge this legal drama starring Christine Baranski, Delroy Lindo, Audra McDonald, Michael Sheen, and Rose Leslie. Season 1 of The Good Fight will air on CBS starting June 16

While you will still need to subscribe to CBS All Access to watch new episodes of The Good Fight, you’ll be able to watch Season 1 for free starting Sunday, June 16 at 9/8c on CBS. The network will air the first two episodes that night, with episodes three and four airing on June 23. The remaining six episodes will air on the following Sunday nights at 10/9c, with the last episode airing on August 4.

Why give away the episodes for free? CBS is hoping that showing the first season will introduce new viewers to the series and encourage people to sign up for CBS All Access so they can watch Season 4 when it premieres in 2020.

The show will also air during the Emmy nomination voting period, which could help generate some awards buzz for Season 3, which ended on May 16. So far, the show has not received any nominations in the major Emmy Award categories, though it has earned two nominations for its music.

“For three seasons, The Good Fight has been a big success for CBS All Access,” Kelly Kahl, President, Entertainment for CBS, said in a statement. “We’re excited to provide our network audience the opportunity to catch up with characters they first fell in love with on The Good Wife, as well as introduce new viewers to this outstanding, critically acclaimed drama.”

When will Season 4 premiere?

CBS renewed The Good Fight for a fourth season in late April, calling the show a “flagship original series” for its streaming service. No premiere date has been announced, but new episodes are expected to arrive sometime in the first quarter of next year, according to Variety.

The Good Fight Season 1 begins airing Sunday, June 16 at 9/8c on CBS.
