How Chance the Rapper Met His New Wife
While it was widely known that the two were together, Corley and Chance have kept their relationship as private as possible. But just a few days before he tied the knot, the rapper revealed the heartwarming story of how he met his true love.
How did Chance the Rapper and Corley meet?
It all happened when Chance’s mom dragged him and his brother and father to one of her office parties in order to get to know her coworkers. He was only nine at the time and not at all interested in attending the party. He had planned on just standing in the corner, playing his Game Boy and eating candy, but then someone announced that
Instead of the actual Grammy award-winning trio, it was a group of three young girls who started lipsynching “Independant Women.” Corley was one of the girls.
“‘QUESTION. TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT ME.’ Now I’m locking eyes with the prettiest girl I
After seeing other kids performing, Chance’s dad encouraged him to get out there and show the crowd his talent. The rapper had already won multiple talent shows and had performed a Michael Jackson tribute at a
“Even though I always had it in me it was always traumatic for me to be around my dad and any adults cause when the music came on I knew there was a possibility he might say ‘Chance do that lil dance you and yo friends be doing. Son, show em the tootsie roll.’ Young me was shy.”
But he also had another reason for not wanting to go out there.
“It’s ’cause I knew I was gonna marry that girl. And I ain’t wanna jump the gun,” he said. “So I shook my head with anxiety, moved to the back of the crowd and never even introduced myself. 16 years later it’s happening. This [weekend] is the time, and the place is my wedding. I’m gonna dance with my wife because this is my destiny.”
It’s crazy how things can come full circle. The couple may have met in 2003 but they didn’t start dating until 2013. Two years later, they had their daughter together.
The pair was legally married in December of 2018, but kept their nuptials private and didn’t have their ceremony until this past weekend. There were 150 people in attendance at their Newport Beach wedding.
Though the guest list was kept small, there were still a number of stars in attendance including Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian, Dave Chappelle, and Kirk Franklin.
