How Channing Tatum Reacted to Jenna Dewan’s Engagement

Jenna Dewan has exciting news: She’s engaged! The Step Up actress recently announced on Instagram that her boyfriend, Steve Kazee, had proposed and that she said yes.

Once the news got out, some outlets spoke with inside sources to determine how Dewan’s ex and co-parent, Channing Tatum, feels about all of this. After all, they haven’t been split up for very long and were only recently granted a divorce.

How long have Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee been dating?

In October 2018, a source revealed to People that Dewan and Kazee had been dating for a “couple of months.” Dewan played coy about her new boyfriend for a while but finally went public with him on Instagram in the summer of 2019. That July, she posted a photo of them cuddling, writing that she had found “peace.”

A few months later, in September 2019, she announced that she and Kazee were expecting.

“We are beyond overjoyed and couldn’t be happier to be expanding our family!” the couple told People. And now, they’re even more excited to be planning the rest of their lives together.

Dewan broke the news on social media on Tuesday, Feb. 18 in an emotional tribute to Kazee.

“A lifetime to love and grow with you…you have my heart,” she captioned an Instagram photo showing her donning an oval-shaped engagement ring while leaning in to kiss her new fiancé.

Kazee shared the same photo on his page, but his caption was different.

“When you wake in the morning I will kiss your face with a smile no one has ever seen,” he wrote. “When you wake in the morning I will kiss your eyes and say it’s you I have loved all these years.”

How does Channing Tatum feel about Jenna Dewan’s engagement

You might think Tatum was caught off-guard or shocked by the news, given that he and Dewan have only been broken up for a year and some months. After falling in love on the set of 2006’s Step Up, the two married in 2009 before announcing their split in April 2018.

But a source told E! News that the 21 Jump Street actor is thrilled for his ex, whom he officially divorced in November 2019.

“Channing is very happy for Jenna and Steve’s engagement,” the source said. “Channing has expressed that he is happy Jenna is in a good place and has moved on.”

The insider noted that Tatum will always have love for Dewan, as she’s the mother of his child, daughter Everly, 6 — but said he has moved on. At the time of this writing, he is dating singer Jessie J.

“Jenna has a special place in [Channing’s] heart since she is the mother of their child, but they have both moved on and are happy in their new relationships,” the insider continued. “Channing’s main priority and concern is his daughter, and him and Jenna are both happy to have worked out a co-parenting agreement.”

Nice. We’re glad these two continue to support and encourage each other — regardless of how things panned out.
