Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce sadly passed away at just 20 years old, but how did he die? The Descendants star’s family shared a heartbreaking statement about his passing, which included his cause of death from an unnamed medical condition.
Boyce was a successful child actor
Boyce had enjoyed success as a child actor and his star was on the rise. He was perhaps best known for his roles in Descendants and Jessie, but had a number of other credits, including his movie debut at age 9 in the horror film Mirrors, as well as Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2, Good Luck Charlie, Shake It Up, Liv and Maddie, BUNK’D, Austin & Ally, and Ultimate Spider-Man.
Boyce played Cruella de Vil’s son Carlos in all three Descendants movies. He had completed production on Descendants 3, which is set for an August 3 release date. Boyce was also to appear in the HBO series Mrs. Fletcher and the upcoming TV series Paradise City.
His family released a statement
Before the rumor mill could start churning about Boyce’s cause of death, his family released a statement to E! News, reading: “It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron. He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.”
The statement continued: “The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”

I never thought in a million years I would be writing this. Cam, you were one of a kind. My heart will be forever broken. Thank you so much for being the big brother I never had… I am so distraught and I cannot stop crying! I love you so much… fly high Gods best Angel.”
Descendants director Kenny Ortega noted on Instagram: “My Love, Light and Prayers go out to Cameron and his Family.
