If you’re an HGTV fan, you’re certainly familiar with Christina El Moussa. We first knew her as the successful house-flipping star of Flip or Flop who did the show alongside her husband, Tarek El Moussa. Unfortunately, Christina and Tarek’s relationship ended in divorce in 2017, as the two cited irreconcilable differences as the reason. They were able to continue to work together on HGTV, but it had the rest of us wondering if Christina was going to find a new man to share her life with post-Tarek.
Now, Christina just got married in a secret wedding to English TV presenter Ant Anstead. Here’s how the two first kicked off their relationship.
Christina says she met Ant at the end of 2017
For those who follow Christina on Instagram, it’s no secret she’s completely in love with Ant has been for the entirety of 2018. As for how the two met, she wrote in an Instagram post that they met toward the end of 2017 thanks to a friend of theirs (who we’re assuming is also in show business. “At the end of 2017 I was lucky enough to be introduced to this guy through a mutual friend. #Fate,” she wrote. Christina then went on to explain how Ant is “an amazing dad to his children and also great with mine, driven and talented, humble and kind, patient and a great listener, fun and hilarious, spiritual and to top it off he’s hot AF.”
This is certainly not the first time we’ve heard Christina gush about Ant, either. Back in June, she told Us Weekly, “This is by far the happiest I’ve been in a while. I’m really excited about the future.” And she also couldn’t hold back on how much she loved their date nights, great conversations, special vacation getaways, and how well her own kids get along with him.
Their wedding was small, private, and completely secret
Us Weekly reports Christina said back in June she would absolutely consider remarrying, so it’s not too much of a surprise that she chose to tie the knot with Ant in what People calls a “winter wonderland” wedding. The publication reports the wedding took place in Newport Beach, California. And the couple was able to pull off the secretive ceremony by having a small ceremony involving just 70 of their closest friends and family members. “We wanted to make it about the kids. It’s the six of us. We’re a blended family so it was really important for them to be a part of it,” Ant said.
As for how they managed to keep the rustic wedding out of the public eye, Christina and Ant give all of their credit to Christina’s publicist, Cassie Zebisch. “She pulled it off. She met with the vendors, she set up the catering. I wanted a Maestros theme, like a nice steakhouse. She did it all!” Christina said — though that doesn’t mean she wasn’t paranoid someone would still find out. “Every day we were checking the internet to see if anyone found out.” Now Ant and Christina can rest easy knowing they totally pulled it off, though.
Tarek is reportedly happy for Christina
So, how does Tarek feel about his recent ex-wife remarrying and taking on someone else’s last name? According to Us Weekly, he feels absolutely no ill-will toward Christina and he’s completely happy for her. As one source tells the publication, “Tarek is happy for Christina and he’s moved on.” And back when Christina and Ant were dating, Tarek himself said on the Today show, “He seems like a good guy. My kids seem to like him.”
At the end of the day, both Christina and Tarek want what’s best for their kids. And though there were times in the past when things ended explosively for the couple (we can’t forget their blowout at their home when the police were called), the dust has definitely settled. Now fans can perhaps look forward to seeing Ant on TV with Christina.
