How Did Dorinda Medley from ‘RHONY’ React To Luann de Lesseps’ Probation Violation?
Although Luann de Lesseps and Dorinda Medley from The Real Housewives of New York City went through a rocky period in their friendship, Medley has nothing but positive wishes for her friend.
Shortly after the cast finished filming the reunion, de Lesseps found herself in trouble with a judge. The cabaret singer has been busy touring with her popular show. However, she was busted for violating her probation.
She was briefly taken into custody but worked out a deal with the judge. “The reports have not been accurate so I’m glad the judge was understanding after being made aware of the facts,” de Lesseps said in a statement to Page Six.”I look forward to completing the last couple months of probation and getting this entire situation behind me and moving on with my life.”
She violated the terms of her probation
In 2017, de Lesseps was arrested and pleaded guilty to felony charges of battery, trespassing and disorderly intoxication, People reports. She made a deal with the courts to avoid prison. Her one-year probation term included a number of requirements.
In addition to performing 50 hours of community service, de Lesseps also had to attend two AA meetings per week. She cannot possess or consume drugs or alcohol. She also had to attend a Victim Impact Class organized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
On RHONY, de Lesseps is seen performing some of her community service duties. She reportedly completed all of her community service hours but failed her alcohol test. Also, she admitted to drinking two mimosas after a cabaret show in Chicago.
She also failed to attend meetings
The countess was told to seek outpatient treatment or wear an alcohol ankle monitoring device because she consumed alcohol, People reports. Unfortunately, de Lesseps refused both options, citing her busy touring schedule and the intrusive nature of the ankle bracelet.
Additionally, de Lesseps did not attend the required AA meetings. Reports stated that de Lesseps only attended a total of five meetings. “It appears to affiant that the subject is not serious about her sobriety of the orders of the court,” according to the documents, People shared. “In order to effectively address [her] current relapse, de Lesseps has to be ‘available’ to participate.”
Dorinda Medley reacts
Thus far, only Dorinda Medley has publicly reacted to de Lesseps’ recent run-in with the law. Like after de Lesseps’ arrest, Medley lit a candle again for her friend.
Medley told Page Six she has positive wishes for de Lesseps. “I was heartbroken and I wish her well,” she said. “I know it’s a terribly hard journey and we are all rooting for her.” She added she lit a candle for her yesterday.
She said that de Lesseps may still be in shock too. “I know she probably can’t believe it now because I will say this, when Richard got terribly sick and died, there is something positive that will come out of that,” she said. “I know it’s darkness before dawn, but there is always is something wonderful, positive thing that will come out of it.”
