How Did Gisele Bündchen and Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady Meet?
When it comes to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, most people see him and wonder about his football talent. How did he get so good? How does he win Super Bowl after Super Bowl? But you know what they say, behind every great man is probably an even greater woman.
How did they meet?
We’ve all had a friend who promises to set us up with someone who they think would be perfect for us. In most cases, though, they aren’t setting you up with a pro football player or a Brazillian model and they are usually pretty wrong about
Luckily for Bündchen and Brady, their friends were actually right.
According to US Weekly, the two officially met in 2006 and then starting dating in December of that year.
” I knew right way — the first time I saw him,” she told Vanity Fair of Brady in 2009. “We met through a friend. The moment I saw him, he smiled and I was like, ‘That is the most beautiful, charismatic smile I’ve ever seen!’ We sat and talked for three hours. I had to go home for Christmas, but I didn’t want to leave.
Their relationship wasn’t without drama, though. After dating for two months, Brady told Bündchen that his ex-girlfriend was pregnant with his child.
The model wrote about what a difficult time that was in her memoir “Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life.”
“Two months into our relationship, Tom told me that his ex-girlfriend was pregnant,” she wrote. “The very next day, the news was everywhere and I felt my world had been turned upside down.”
Though Bündchen may not have taken the news of Brady’s ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan’s pregnancy well, when the baby came, she loved him as if he were her own. She even mentioned being grateful for Moynahan in her memoir.
The couple dated for two years before getting engaged. Once betrothed, the two couldn’t wait to get married.
“We planned it in like 10 days, and it was perfect,” Brady told to GQ. “We went back to the house and I barbecued aged New York strips. We had champagne, a cake, some ice cream. It was a great night. I think you always have this idea that weddings need to be 200 people and you invite everybody, and I’m all for it if people want to do that, but I think there was really something special about just having our parents there.”
The couple must have really enjoyed getting married because fast forward two months to April of 2009 and they threw another wedding in Costa Rica.
In December of 2009, the couple welcomed their first child, Benjamin, into the world.
In her memoir, Bündchen revealed that the pregnancy and having a child wasn’t the easiest on her and Brady’s relationship.
In 2012, she gave birth to their second child, Vivian.
