How Does Cardi B Really Feel About Motherhood?
Since she popped on the scene with her hit single, “Bodack Yellow” back in June 2017 — Cardi B’s fame has exploded and she’s become one of the most successful and talked-about rappers (female or otherwise) of our time. From her Grammy-winning debut album, Invasion of Privacy to roles in hit movies like Hustlers and shows like Netflix’s Rythm + Flow — Cardi has proven time and time again that she doesn’t have to play by the rules to win.
In fact, leading up the release of her album –rumors swirled that the Bronx-born rapper was pregnant. Though the “Press” rapper did not confirm her pregnancy until she was almost eight months pregnant, many folks speculated that her pregnancy would greatly derail the momentum Cardi had been creating in her career.
However, like everything else she’s done in her life —Cardi B has proven that she can live her life the way she wants to and still win.
Cardi B has one daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus
In September 2017 — Cardi secretly wed her husband, Migos rapper Offset. However, the marriage was not revealed until after the rapper publically proposed to his wife in October 2017 (after they were already married). Though she’s very candid it became clear that Cardi wants to keep some things to herself. She later said, “There are so many moments that I share with the world and then there are moments that I want to keep for myself! Getting married was one of those moments!”
Cardi and Offset welcomed their baby daughter, Kulture on July 10, 2018. Though the rapper went back to work almost immediately after giving birth, she shared that she suffered from postpartum depression. “When I gave birth, the doctor told me about postpartum, and I was like, ‘Well, I’m doing good right now, I don’t think that’s going to happen.’ But out of nowhere, the world was heavy on my shoulders,” she explained to Harper’s Bazaar.
Cardi B refuses to hire a nanny to watch Kulture
As a global artist — Cardi B is constantly traveling for performances, appearances, and deals. However, she refuses to hire a nanny for Kulture. Instead, if she can’t bring her baby girl along, her sister Hennesy or her mother watches baby Kulture. During an interview at BeautyCon 2019, the “Money” singer explained,
When I was pregnant, I used to be like, it’s gonna be easy. I’m just gonna hire a nanny and my baby’s gonna come with me everywhere. But it’s like once you have the baby, it’s hard to get a nanny because you don’t trust nobody with your kid! And then it’s like, OK, my mom is helping me and sister helps me take care of [Kulture], but, like, my mom do not want to go from city to city, two and three cities in less than 72 hours.
Cardi B loves being a mom
In addition to lavishing Kulture with love, attention and expensive gifts, Cardi has been open about how much she loves being a mother. She told E! News, “I’m a good mom. I’m good at a lot of things. The best job is a mom. I’m really good at being a mom. She is so fun, she is cool, like, I love her, she’s like my little best friend. She just makes the gloomiest days like sunshine. I love it. It’s a slice of heaven.”
We expect that Kulture might be getting some siblings in the near future.
