Decider did a deep dive and polled a number of Bravolebrities about not only what they are serving or cooking, but what is their favorite aspect of the gastronomic holiday.
A number of Bravo’s favorites offered insight into their day, plus Craig Conover from Southern Charm shared how he “creates” the perfect Thanksgiving plate.
Mash it all together
Conover said he enjoys combining everything on his Thanksgiving plate before he dives in. “The things on my plate at Thanksgiving dinner are all mixed together, so I am one of those people,” he shared. “I mix turkey and gravy and corn and mashed potatoes, but I don’t mix the cranberry sauce.”
Also, Rosbach from Below Deck likes his homemade stuffing smothered in gravy. “My favorite dish on Thanksgiving has to be homemade stuffing smothered in homemade turkey gravy,” he said. “That is my total downfall. That is the one I am definitely having seconds of, maybe thirds. Can’t get enough, then it’s off to the sofa and football.”
Rosbach’s deckhand, Tanner Sterback also enjoys some cheese smothered carbs. His favorite? “My dad’s scalloped cheese potatoes. He makes those with so much love that it takes a specific day for him to do those. He makes a homemade sauce and the cheese and he does everything perfectly, he’s a really good cook. I was spoiled with good food growing up.”
They appreciate the side dishes
Chief stew Kate Chastain from Below Deck told Decider she loves mashed potatoes, but she can get into them all year round. “I like the sides,” she adds. “I do feel bad for turkeys because it’s their only day of the year and they’re underrated. It’s like, I’m a big bird and I even have a little more interesting flavor than chicken.”
Margaret Josephs from RHONJ said she’s all about the sweet and savory dishes. “I’m gonna have to say sweet potato pie. With the marshmallows melted on top,” she said. Fellow cast member, Melissa Gorga shared she too is a sweet potato lover. “My older sister taught me how to make a side dish that is sweet potatoes with melted marshmallows and brown sugar. It is my absolute favorite! This side dish sometimes feels like the dessert!”
Patricia Altschul from Southern Charm also likes sweet potatoes, but with an uptown flavor. “We have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner but I include a sweet potato soufflé with tiny browned marshmallows on top as well as the green bean casserole made with Campbell’s soup and Durkee onion rings.” She hilariously pokes fun at her son too. “Whitney has the vegan chef cook for him!”
Busy mom, Cameran Eubanks from Southern Charm makes a green bean casserole. “My favorite dish for Thanksgiving is green bean casserole. It’s always my contribution because it takes five minutes to make.”
