How Does the ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Cast Feel About Lala Kent Keeping Her Relationship Private on the Show?
Is it fair to appear on a reality television show without showing your entire life? The cast of Vanderpump Rules doesn’t think so. And are calling out Lala Kent about keeping her relationship private on the show.
During the explosive reunion, host Andy Cohen asked Kent about why she kept her fiancé off camera. This is despite his appearances on other reality television shows. Kent had her own reasons, but she made one comment that caused some serious friction. As the cast started to get heated over the topic, Lisa Vanderpump offered her opinion.
Emmett was ending a marriage
During Kent’s early years on the show, she was extremely protective of Emmett. She never named him directly but rather referred to him as her “man.”
Rumors swirled that Kent was dating a wealthy married man. In fact, some cast members asserted they were required to sign non-disclosure agreements when they socialized with Emmett.
One of the biggest reasons why Kent could not reveal her “man’s” name on air was because he was in the middle of a divorce. Once Emmett’s divorce was finalized in December 2017, Kent was able to slowly begin to introduce him more to the cast and the show.
Although Kent was less protective of referring to Emmett on the show, it didn’t mean she was ready for him to make an appearance. In fact, Emmett, who is a film producer has appeared on two other reality shows but not on Vanderpump Rules.
Why hasn’t Emmett been on ‘Vanderpump Rules?’
Cohen says that Emmett appeared on both Flipping Out and even Keeping Up with the Kardashians. But is a no show when it comes to Vanderpump Rules. “Number one I don’t want him to be on it,” Kent said. “The things that go on the show it does get very real and nitty gritty.”
As Kent gave her reasons, Cohen says he looked around at the group and saw how they all put their entire lives on the show. “Scheana has been married and divorced on the show,” Cohen says. “Do you think that’s fair to the others that you’re on the show but you don’t show everything?
The cast doesn’t think it is fair Kent is allowed to hold back
As Cohen asked if Kent thought it was fair to be on the show but not show her relationship, Scheana Shay shook her head. “I think I show quite a bit,” Kent asserted.
Tom Sandoval points out that Kent is allowed to keep a small amount of her life locked away, while the rest of the cast has it all out in the open. “I do think it is unfair not to give 100 percent,” Shay says.
But Kent then snaps back, “Then find someone who has a career.” The comment does not sit well with the rest of the cast, especially Stassi Schroeder. Her boyfriend, Beau Clark is on the show too and she tells Kent she takes offense to that remark. “There are a lot of men that don’t want to be on the show,” Kent continued.
When Kent says Emmett is not her entire life, Vanderpump refutes that remark. “Hold on a second, he’s the most important thing in your life,” Vanderpump says. “When you are not showing that relationship, you are not showing what’s going on in your life.” Plus, when Vanderpump learned that Emmett is friendly with the cast she said, “Well then he should show some of his life on it,” Vanderpump concluded.
