Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova have been together since 2001 and are one of those celebrity couples who like to keep their relationship and personal lives private, even if it means going to great lengths. The singer and retired tennis star proved just that when they announced that Kournikova had given birth to twins in December 2017. The news came as such a surprise because no one even knew she was pregnant.
This is what we know about the twins now and how the couple kept the whole pregnancy a secret from everyone. (And a cute video of Kournikova dancing with her daughter on page 9).
When and where Kournikova gave birth
The news no one saw coming broke when TMZ reported that Kournikova and Iglesias welcomed a baby boy and girl in Miami back on Dec. 16, 2017.
What was so impressive was the fact that the two were able to hide Kournikova’s pregnancy from the press and public. So, after hearing about the twins’ birth, social media users flocked to the couple’s accounts to see if there were any signs they missed, but there was no such evidence she was expecting on the musician’s account.
As for Kournikova, she stopped posting full body shots months before except for one Instagram video from August 2017 when she was exercising in an oversized workout shirt, which concealed any type of baby bump.
Next: What’s in a name?
What they named the twins
The super-private pair took a month to announce the births, so it’s no surprise that they didn’t share the baby names right away either. However, soon after they were born sources told TMZ that the first-time parents named their son Nicholas and their daughter Lucy.
Next: Was it planned?
Pair spoke about having kids before
We probably should have seen a Kournikova pregnancy coming at some point since they have each spoken publicly about wanting children. In 2011, the athlete told Women’s Health that she “absolutely wants to have children, whether I have my own or adopt.”
Then, three years later, Iglesias opened up about having kids when the timing was right and he could take a break from music so he’d be able to raise his children instead of being on tour all the time.
“Hopefully the day that I have kids I can lay back a bit and not travel as much and not be touring as constantly,” he said. “I don’t want to be on the road for six or eight months and then come back and not recognize my own child.”

Went ‘very undercover’ to keep pregnancy hidden
So just how did the duo manage to keep the fact that they were expecting from the world? Well, they went “undercover.”
“A friend told me like five months ago [that] they were pregnant but keeping it very, very undercover,” a source revealed to People. “They basically only hang out with family and very close friends. They mostly keep to themselves.”
That’s was likely the case for the entire nine months considering that Kournikova hadn’t been spotted by the paparazzi in over a year.
Next: Anna’s baby bump
Though they went undercover during the pregnancy, Kournikova has shared a photo of her baby bump since. She shared the photo on Instagram, tagging it #tbt #37weeks. Kournikova looks stunning, as anyone would have expected.
Next: Is marriage in the cards?
Could be married now as well
Since we had no clue that Kournikova was pregnant it’s certainly possible that the pair could be married now as well. In fact, questions about whether or not they already got hitched have been swirling for years as the tennis champ sports a large canary rock on that finger. And although Iglesias has been vocal in the past about not feeling the need to get married, he didn’t deny that he and Kournikova will or did tie the knot.
“I don’t believe you need a piece of paper to show you love someone,” he told E! News in 2016, but added, “Who knows what the future holds … or the past … haha.”
Next: Motherhood suits her
Iglesias always believed Kournikova would be a great mother
Even before they had children the “Be With You” singer said he always believed that Kournikova would be a great mother and sang her praises to People en Español back in 2007.
“The only thing I can say is that, in my opinion, Anna, whether we are together or not, would be an ideal mother,” Iglesias explained. “I think she’d be the perfect mother, and I say it regardless of whether I’d be with her or not.”
Next: It’s hard work getting ready
Couple baby-proofed and paparazzi-proofed home
To ensure their continued privacy and the privacy of their twins, the famous pair had a 16-foot-tall wall built around their Miami property.
According to TMZ, construction began in the summer of 2017. In addition to the huge wall, Iglesias and Kournikova have been busy completely baby-proofing the home. It’s also been reported that they had some renovations done and added a two-story residence on the grounds as well. The price tag for the entire project is over $500,000.
Next: Time to dance
Kournikova took to Instagram to post an adorable video of her and baby Lucy dancing. What song were they listening to? None other than the new Iglesias single, “Move to Miami.” She captioned the video, “Little one, please don’t inherit my dance moves.”
