How Kate Beckinsale Really Feels About Internet Opinion of Her Relationship With Pete Davidson

Earlier this year, Kate Beckinsale and Pete Davidson started dating each other. They were a rather unlikely couple, and the internet could not stop talking about them.

Beckinsale had mostly been very quiet about the relationship, but she recently opened up a little bit to share how she felt about people’s obsession with her and Davidson. Read on below to see what Beckinsale had to say about the whole thing.

Beckinsale and Davidson reportedly met at a Golden Globe party in early 2019. The two of them were seen being very flirty, and it was even said that Davidson ditched a friend that he came with to hang out with Beckinsale.

Then, the pair was spotted holding hands a few weeks later. In March, they also engaged in PDA at a hockey game. At this point, it was quite clear that the two of them were a real couple.

However, by mid-2019, it seems that things started to fizzle out between Beckinsale and Davidson. A source told Entertainment Tonight that “Pete and Kate got super serious very fast, but they’ve decided to slow things down a bit.” It didn’t take long before Davidson was rumored to be dating someone else, which signified an end to his relationship with Beckinsale.

She does not understand why people care so much about her relationships

Beckinsale recently opened up to Women’s Health about having people on the internet paying attention to her love life, especially when she dates men who are younger than she is.

“If everyone’s sh***ing on you, it can make you kind of ugh for a minute —especially if there’s really nothing wrong,” Beckinsale said. “If you’re strangling a squirrel or hurting someone, I get it, but living one’s life in a reasonably respectful manner shouldn’t invite anyone to get too excited.”

Back in April, Beckinsale also told the Daily Mail that she does not really understand why there are strangers on the internet who dedicate so much time to writing things about her relationships, saying: “If I found myself obsessing over the life of someone I didn’t know to the point where I was writing mean things about them, then my family would put me away somewhere because obviously I would’ve lost my mind.”

Kate Beckinsale thinks age is just a number

Beckinsale also pointed out that at a certain age, women tend to get criticism for living their life. She turned 46 years old this year, so Beckinsale definitely knows a thing or two about people’s judgments as she ages.

“It can feel like a little bit of a political act to be a woman over 32 who is having any fun at all,” she said to Women’s Health. “And by that, I don’t mean doing drugs and drinking and partying—because I never am—but being goofy, and going out, and not going, ‘Omigod, I’m going to sit home and anticipate menopause while crocheting.'”

Beckinsale noted that men often are given more choices in how to live their life. “I witness men constantly doing whatever they like—whether that’s in relationships, or deciding to buy a motorbike, or getting a tattoo. It has not been interpreted as ‘Why hasn’t he had more children?’ or ‘Is he ever going to decide to become a parent?’ or ‘Why has he had so many girlfriends?'”

She also does not see anything wrong with relationships with big age gaps. Beckinsale shared with the Daily Mail that when she was younger, she frequently acted and lived with people of varying ages, such as Keanu Reeves, Robert Sean Leonard, and Emma Thompson. As such, it seems natural that age does not mean much to Beckinsale.
