How Keith Urban Embarrassed Nicole Kidman With These ‘Gemini’ Lyrics

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman are truly relationship goals. The adorable pair have been together for nearly fifteen years and have two daughters that they raise on their sprawling Nashville estate. Kidman and Urban are one of the most iconic celebrity couples and they seem to have each other’s back, both in front of the cameras and in private. Still, being the muse to one of country music’s most talented stars does occasionally have drawbacks. Kidman learned this first-hand when Urban released one of his latest songs: “Gemini.”

Urban and Kidman, who both hail from Australia, first crossed paths at the 2005 G’Day USA gala, an event celebrating Australians in the United States. Kidman was fresh off of her relationship with fellow actor Tom Cruise, and Urban was one of the hottest stars in country music.

According to Kidman, sparks flew right away, but she didn’t think that Urban was interested in her since he didn’t call her until months after their initial meeting. Urban tells a slightly different story: In a later interview, he confessed that while he had Kidman’s number, he didn’t think that the stunning actress would see anything of value in someone like him. Finally, he worked up the courage to call her, and when the pair talked on the phone, their connection couldn’t be denied.

They married after less than a year of dating, in a sweet ceremony in Manly, Australia. The early years of their marriage weren’t without challenges, as Urban endured a stint in rehab shortly after their union was made official. The couple went on to welcome two daughters — Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret — in 2008 and 2011. Kidman and Urban were one of the first celebrity couples to speak out about surrogacy, as they used a gestational carrier for their second daughter, Faith Margaret.

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman support each other

Kidman’s status in Hollywood has only risen in the years since her marriage to Urban, and she is a firm fixture at many red carpet events. Urban is always at her side, supporting her in everything that she does. Similarly, Kidman often accompanies Urban to music industry events.

Urban also frequently uses his relationship with Kidman as inspiration for his music. He has spoken out about how Kidman’s unique combination of strength and vulnerability inspired his hit song, ‘”The Fighter.” Most recently, Urban’s newest album Graffiti U includes several songs that reference Kidman’s influence in his life, especially in one song titled “Gemini.”

Nicole Kidman got seriously embarrassed with Keith Urban’s new song

“Gemini” features a line that apparently alludes to Kidman’s feistiness in the bedroom. Urban sings: “She’s a maniac in the bed, but a brainiac in the head.”

While many would likely get angry about such an open revelation, Kidman didn’t seem terribly upset. In an interview where Kidman was asked about the song and how she felt about it, Kidman acknowledged that she knows she is a muse for Urban’s art and doesn’t like to “censor it.” She also stated that she would rather be referenced that way in the song rather than having it portray her as boring.

Still, it was clear that Kidman did get slightly embarrassed over certain parts of the song. At one point during the interview, Kidman was asked about the portion of the song that claims she wakes Urban up in the middle of the night. Kidman stated: “I’m not answering that, that’s outrageous.” She maintained a playful tone, so it seems that rather than being angry, she was slightly red in the face.
