How Lauren Conrad From ‘The Hills’ Met Her Husband, William Tell
She may be out of the reality TV spotlight now, but for years, MTV fans followed Lauren Conrad from high school in Laguna Beach to her professional life in Los Angeles thanks to series’ like Laguna Beach and The Hills. Just because she’s no longer on our televisions doesn’t mean Lauren’s disappeared completely, however. Now 32 years old, she has an ultra-successful clothing line with Kohl’s as well as a baby with her husband, William Tell.
Fans watched Lauren date plenty of guys on TV, though none of them were her current husband. Here’s how she met William, as well as a look back on the other men we saw her get involved with in years past.
Lauren first met William when she was 16 years old
We may have watched Lauren navigate high school, but even the reality star herself couldn’t predict that her husband was a musician she met when she was just 16. On a blog post she wrote detailing 25 things her fans probably don’t know about her, she said, “I met my husband when I was 16 and sitting onstage at one of his concerts. Ten years later we were set up on a blind date.”
So, how did they meet when Lauren was so young? Us Weekly reminds us William was in the pop-rock band Something Corporate from 2001 to 2004, and she reportedly met him at one of his concerts. They then had their first date in 2012 10 years after that first fateful meeting. Just a year and a half after meeting the second time (though we’re sure it felt like the first), the two were engaged.
They married in 2014 and had a baby in 2017
Lauren and William seem like the perfect match, as the two both understand the entertainment world but are removed enough from it now that they can each reflect on it going through their 30s and beyond. According to People, Lauren said of her relationship with William, “It’s the first time I’m with someone and I’m not explaining things. He also has experience in the entertainment industry, so he understands a lot of things that people don’t always get.”
Though the two have been pretty quiet about married life, Lauren couldn’t help but gush to Us Weekly regarding their first year of marriage. “It’s been wonderful so far. … For us it makes you officially family, which is really great, but as far as our relationship, we were really committed before, so it didn’t change a ton,” she told the publication.
It seems the couple are still going strong, too. In the summer of 2018, the couple celebrated their son’s first birthday, People explains. In an Instagram post with William, baby Liam, and herself walking on the beach, Lauren captioned the photo with, “Celebrating 1 year with our little guy. Happy birthday Liam!!”
Fans remember all the past men she dated, too
Before William Tell, we remember how difficult dating life was for Lauren. MTV reminds us back in the days of Laguna Beach, the star was totally into fellow Laguna Beach high schooler Stephen Colletti — but it was quickly discovered that he liked co-star Kristin Cavallari. There was also Jason Wahler, the subject of the infamous sex tape scandal that rocked Lauren’s world and destroyed her friendship with best friend Heidi. Then, on The Hills, fans would never forget about Lauren’s relationship with the ever-charming Brody Jenner.
While none of these men were long-term dating material for Lauren, fans did seem to think something long-lasting would occur with Kyle Howard, a sitcom actor she dated for three years. Apparently he was too into his career to settle down, though, as they separated in 2011.
There’s no doubt William and Lauren are in it for the long haul. And though we won’t be seeing either of them on the Hills reboot, we’ll keep an eye on what they’re up to in the future on social media.
