Brown hit the big time in 2016. That’s the year that two notable series premiered: This Is Us and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. While he first caught the attention of many in the FX anthology miniseries, it was the NBC family drama that brought him the biggest audience.

The actor has continued to star in This Is Us as Randall Pearson since 2016. Randall is the adopted child of Rebecca and Jack Pearson, whom they took in after he was abandoned when he was born on the same day as their twins, Kate and Kevin. Now grown up, he works to get along with his adopted siblings.

Even before the series premiere of This Is Us, Brown was poised to be the breakout star of the show. That’s because just before it began, he took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his role in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

The next year was another good one for Brown. He won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for This Is Us in 2017. And in 2018, he was nominated twice: Once for This Is Us, and another time for Oustanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his appearance in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

He is nominated once again this year

This year, Brown is nominated for the third time in a row for portraying Randall in This Is Us. He is up against his co-star Milo Ventimiglia, who portrays Jack Pearson (his father, in flashbacks), who has been nominated twice previously, but has not yet won.

Brown took to his Instagram to share the news of his nomination. In his caption, he called it “a privilege to work alongside my fellow Pearsons and extended family,” adding “It’s an honor to be recognized alongside them.”

When does the new season of ‘This Is Us’ begin?

This Is Us is up for a combined nine Emmys this year — four at the Creative Arts Emmys taking place this weekend, and five more at the Primetime Emmys next weekend. But the series is also gearing up to return for its fourth season.

The drama series returns on Sept. 24, 2019, just two days after the Primetime Emmys. And it has been given a rare gift. Not only do the cast and fans not have to worry that this will be the final season, they know that there are two more to come after that. So there will be plenty more chances for this show and its stars to take home Emmys.
