How Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s Relationship Is Growing Stronger With Time
When Meghan Markle joined the royal family last year, it didn’t take long before reports began surfacing about her poor relationship with Kate Middleton. Many royal fans thought the two women would become close friends, but it seemed as if they were actually feuding instead.
These days, though, the tide might be turning and onlookers are noticing that Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton could be putting the past behind them. So what exactly happened, and how could Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s relationship be growing stronger with time? Here’s what we know.
Were Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton really feuding?
No credible source has ever confirmed that Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton were feuding with each other, but there were definitely rumors that the two duchesses did not get along.
Reportedly, Kate Middleton cried during the preparation for Meghan Markle’s wedding. Later on, there were also allegations that Kate Middleton yelled at Meghan Markle over something concerning staff members. Again, these rumors were never actually confirmed to be real.
However, people also pointed out that the two women showed very uncomfortable body language when they were seen together, which only further exacerbated the feud reports.
It also did not help that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tried to distance themselves from Kate Middleton and Prince William in both their personal and work lives. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved out of Kensington Palace, tried to form their own communications team, and also broke away from the Royal Foundation to start their own charity.
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton reportedly bonded over motherhood
After Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison, into the world back in May, things seemed to be looking up for the Markle’s relationship with her sister-in-law.
At the annual Trooping the Colour parade, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton sat together in the same carriage, and the two ladies seemed to be getting on well.
“Everybody was smiling and looked happy,” journalist Emma Forbes note. “It was a real moment of continuity.”
Royal experts noted that babies can change many things in a person’s life, including their relationships with others, and it seems like this has been Meghan Markle’s experience.
After the two ladies attended a Wimbledon match together, royal commentator Victoria Arbiter said: “Babies are a great leveler. The minute you’re bonding over your stories and sleepless nights, suddenly all the stuff that mattered before doesn’t matter anymore.”
Onlookers even shared that when Meghan Markle’s friend, Serena Williams, lost the game, Middleton was seen consoling Markle.
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton also looked ‘relaxed’ together recently
In another example of Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s bond strengthening, the two duchesses attended a charity polo match to support their husbands and once again, they showed no signs of feuding.
An insider shared: “They’re each a little more relaxed. They have more in common now.”
Royal author Robert Lacey also noted that Markle and Middleton are settling into their roles and understanding how important it is for the family that they are on good terms.
“Coming from different backgrounds, I think, they have more the makings of a team than people imagined,” he shared. “And they have a common interest as partners to these two men who are so crucial to the monarchy, along with their children.”
Some people even reported that it was actually a good thing for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to move out of Kensington Palace and set up their own offices and projects.
“We are learning they have come back together even stronger,” royal expert Makho Ndlovu pointed out, saying that Markle and Middleton are “more as a family now rather than colleagues.”
