How Meghan Markle Stays Close With Friends in Her New Royal Life
It’s no secret that Meghan Markle has a close-knit group of celebrity best friends. But, how does she manage to stay connected with them and tend to her extensive royal responsibilities? On the heels of an alleged feud with her close friend and actress, Priyanka Chopra over missing her wedding to Nick Jonas, we take a closer look at how the Duchess of Sussex balances her celebrity inner circle and royal lifestyle, ahead.
Meghan Markle and Priyanka Chopra’s feud
Meghan Markle has some powerful A-list celebrities in her inner circle. From Amal Clooney to Serena Williams, the Duchess of Sussex has remained close with her friends, despite the growing demands of royal life. That said, things don’t always work in her favor.
Case in point: Meghan Markle had to skip Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s wedding in December 2018. The reason for the duchess’s absence? She reportedly blamed it on her pregnancy. And, apparently, Priyanka was not happy about it. “Priyanka was crushed,” one source told Page Six of her reaction.
Although she says she was busy with work in Los Angeles during Meghan Markle’s New York City baby shower (and was, therefore, not in attendance), some claim Meghan Markle and Priyanka Chopra’s relationship could be on the rocks over her wedding RSVP. “Their friendship is over unless Meghan apologizes,” the source added. “Priyanka is a huge international star with a tremendous social media following. She is probably more famous worldwide than Meghan Is. She feels Meghan didn’t respect her and didn’t respect their friendship.”
That said, Meghan Markle makes a significant effort with her friends and a second source reports that her so-called feud with Priyanka Chopra is untrue. “There are no issues between the two women,” the source told Page Six. “They are friends, and anything you’re being told otherwise is inaccurate and untrue.”
Here are all the ways Meghan Markle has managed to keep her friends close in her new royal life.
Secret visits

Meghan Markle recently made her first trip back to the United States since joining the royal family. However, it wasn’t her first time flying internationally to spend time with friends. According to reports, the Duchess of Sussex made a secret trip to Toronto for a few days last August to visit her best friend, Jessica Mulroney.
In addition, she and Prince Harry spent time at Lake Como with George and Amal Clooney last summer. And, her makeup artist, Daniel Martin has also visited the duchess in London.
She cooks for them
The Duchess of Sussex loves to cook and, apparently, she treats her friends to some delicious homemade dishes. While visiting Meghan Markle in London, Daniel Martin snacked on some avocado toast made by Her Royal Highness. He even called her the “avocado toast whisperer.”
She invites them on royal tours
She might be busy with her new royal responsibilities, but that doesn’t stop Meghan Markle from mixing work and play. Apparently, the Duchess of Sussex invited her BFF, Jessica Mulroney on her royal tour of Australia last year.
Jessica and her husband, Ben Mulroney reportedly joined the duke and duchess in an unofficial capacity and paid their own expenses.
Girl’s trips
Meghan Markle recently linked up with some of her best girlfriends in New York City for a girl’s trip and intimate baby shower. While much of the focus was on her $200,000 celebration — which was paid for by friends — the duchess also spent time lunching with her former co-star, Abigail Spencer, eating macarons with Jessica Mulroney, and catching up with her tennis superstar best friend, Serena Williams, who co-hosted the baby shower.
