How Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino Told Wife Lauren About His Prison Release
In October 2018, Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino was sentenced to eight months in prison. His friends, family, Jersey Shore co-stars, and wife Lauren Pesce were devastated at the news, but accepting of the reality that Big Daddy Sitch had to serve some time behind bars for his wrong-doings.
Despite their initial concern, Sorrentino’s loved ones knew that with his new and improved attitude, he could get through anything. After eight long months and several “family vacations” without him, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Angelina Pivarnick, Pauly DelVecchio, Vinny Guadagnino, and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro are ready to welcome their friend back to the shore house.
In a recent teaser for the upcoming season of Family Vacation, fans finally get a sneak peek at how Sorrentino let his wife know his time was up and he would soon be coming home. Read on to find out how “The Situation” announced his prison release to Pesce.
Why was ‘The Situation’ sent to prison?
In January 2018, Sorrentino pleaded guilty for committing tax fraud. Farley and Guadagnino were in the courtroom when the sentence was announced, with the rest of the Jersey Shore family in a nearby restaurant. In addition to serving time, Sorrentino had to pay a $10,000 fine and participate in 500 hours of community service.
How did Sorrentino announce his release from prison?
Up until this point, fans have been in the dark as to when Sorrentino would be released. Throughout the last season of the show, the shore house was torn apart in Sorrentino’s absence.
In a promo for the upcoming season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, we see that Sorrentino has been in prison for 239 days. Sorrentino’s wife receives a phone call from the federal prison, and after consenting to take the call, we hear, “Hi honeys! It’s happening!” Her face glowing with a smile, Mrs. Sorrentino replies, “I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time.”
Whether or not this phone call will happen during the premiere of the new season is still up for debate, but one thing is for sure. Sorrentino will make a triumphant return.
How long has ‘The Situation’ been married?
Sorrentino married his college sweetheart before he went to prison. The wedding took place in early November 2018 at the Legacy Castle in Pequannock, NJ. The Jersey Shore crew were present for the special occasion.
Mike’s sobriety in prison
December 2020 marked four years of sobriety for the Family Vacation star. During his time in prison, Sorrentino remained sober and focused on perfecting his fitness routine and improving his physique. While incarcerated, Sorrentino worked out several times a day to maintain a positive attitude.
What to expect this season of ‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’
From what we can tell thus far, there’s going to be plenty of good ole’ fashion family fun. While there’s no telling exactly what’s going to happen next, fans can expect to see plenty of drama, with a few heart-to-hearts, and alcohol-induced moments mixed throughout this upcoming season.
