How Much Does Kristen Bell Get Paid for Starring in ‘The Good Place’?

Until about five years ago, those who knew of Kristen Bell knew her from her only major role at the time — as the title character of the popular series Veronica Mars. Then Frozen came along, and she became one of the voices responsible for one of Disney’s most recent popular animated films of all time.

Then The Good Place happened. And it’s unlikely the end for her — especially due to the show’s success.

Here’s the story behind Kristen Bell’s rise to fame (and the show that made her famous before Frozen) and how much she gets paid now to star in The Good Place on NBC.

Bell was already an aspiring actress when she dropped out of college to star on Broadway. She played Becky Thatcher as part of the original cast of The Adventures of Tom Saywer in 2001, and later played Susanna Walcott in the original production of The Crucible in 2002.

Bell is probably still best known for playing the title character in the TV series Veronica Mars (if you don’t count her Disney fame). Her career took off when the show premiered in 2004, and increased the number of acting opportunities that came her way.

Over the years she has also voiced several video game characters and appeared in a variety of movies and shows in small and guest roles, including Parks and Recreation, Heroes, and Gossip Girl.

She currently plays Eleanor Shellstrop (the “real” one) on The Good Place alongside Ted Danson, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, Manny Jacinto, and D’Arcy Carden.

How much does Kristen Bell make on ‘The Good Place’?

Bell makes an estimated $125,000 per episode of The Good Place. She has therefore made over $3 million for a total of 30+ episodes and counting so far, if this number is accurate.

The popular NBC comedy has won a Critics Choice Television Award for Most Exciting New Series, and has been nominated for two Primetime Emmy awards and two Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, & Horror Film awards.

Bell will reprise her role as Princess Anna in Disney’s Frozen sequel, which is set to premiere around Thanksgiving 2019. Little is known about the movie’s premise, but Idina Menzel and Josh Gad will also reportedly return as Elsa (Menzel) and Olaf (Gad).

In September 2018, Bell also announced she will once again be playing the character that originally gave her her spotlight. Hulu will launch a Veronica Mars revival — a limited series — sometime in 2019.

It’s only been about five years since Bell returned to this world. A crowdfunded Veronica Mars movie was successfully released in 2014. But it took the rise of a revival and reboot television trend over the past several years for this show to get a second chance.

In the meantime, Bell will continue her time in The Good Place (or the Bad Place, or wherever she might end up by the end of season 3 and beyond).

The Good Place airs Thursday nights on NBC.
