How Much Money Was Emily Blunt Paid for ‘Jungle Cruise’?
Emily Blunt’s star continues to rise as she appears in hit movies such as The Devil Wears Prada, Mary Poppins Returns, and most recently Jungle Cruise. Here’s how much money Emily Blunt was paid for Jungle Cruise.
What is Jungle Cruise?
The Jungle Cruise movie is based on the Walt Disney World ride of the same name. The theme park ride, which operates in several Disney parks, takes guests on a tour of the world’s rivers. Disney sees the film as another winning franchise similar to Pirates of the Caribbean, reports Variety. This isn’t the first time Blunt has collaborated with Disney on a film. She also appeared in the musical Into the Woods and Mary Poppins Returns.
Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson weren’t part of the original casting for Jungle Cruise
Although you probably can’t imagine Jungle Cruise without Emily Blunt and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, they weren’t part of the original casting. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen were supposed to be the stars of the Disney film, reports Entertainment Weekly.
In the current version of the film, Johnson stars as the captain of the boat. “[It’s] full on adventure. Think Indiana Jones — those kinds of adventures. I’m very, very excited about it,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “This is where I really started to understand the power of Disney, just in terms of the deep dives that they do with their projects — with all of their projects. Because obviously they’re a studio and publicly traded, but specifically with projects like this where it’s based off a ride and based off a beloved attraction, like Pirates [of the Caribbean], so, so much goes into the work. And it’s so exciting,” Johnson added.
The early years
Before Jungle Cruise, Blunt appeared in many television and movie roles. Blunt made her film debut in the 2003 movie Warrior Queen. From there, she moved on to the 2003 TV movie Henry VIII. After a few more television roles, she got her big break in the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada. Other movies followed, including Looper (2012), Into the Woods (2014), Sicario (2015), The Girl on the Train (2016), A Quiet Place (2018), and Mary Poppins Returns (2018).
