How Old Is Chevel Shepherd, And Where Is She From?
The Voice, now in its 15th season, has brought fame and jump-started the careers of dozens of music artists. Cassadee Pope, the winner of season three, went on to tour with Darius Rucker and Tim McGraw. Season four winner, Danielle Bradberry, had her song “My Day” used at the Sochi Olympics. Josh Kaufman, the winner of The Voice: Season nine, has gone on to star in Pippin on Broadway and enjoys working through the musical scene close to home.
Now, everyone is talking about Chevel Shepherd. Shepherd is the pint-sized finalist on this season of The Voice, and she’s wowed the judges and the public from the moment she stepped on stage. Kelly Clarkson quickly jumped at the chance to add Chevel to her team, and she hasn’t regretted it for a moment. While little Chevel has won the hearts of millions, there is more to this pint-sized wonder than meets the eye.
How old is Chevel Shepherd?
Standing at just 4’10, Chevel looks even younger than her 16 years. Born on June 18th, 2002, she shares a birthday with Blake Shelton, a judge on The Voice. When she wowed the judges with her blind audition, she was a Junior in high school. She has gone on to continuously impress judges and guest stars with her work ethic, her powerful voice and her commitment to her craft.

Thank you so much for all the support and love it truly means a ton❤️ @nbcthevoice #TheVoice #BlindAuditions #TeamChevel #ChevelShepherd #IAuditioned #TeamKelly #Season15 #CountryGirl #CountrySinger
Chevel was born in La Plata, New Mexico and currently resides in Farmington, New Mexico. La Plata is a tiny town of just 612 people. Farmington, only 20 minutes away, is significantly bigger, with 45,000 residents. Chevel has said she grew up on a farm, with a diet of outdoor activity and tomboy activities.
Chevel spent much of her childhood feeding the animals, enjoying craft activities and helping her dad fix old cars. She took every chance she could to sing in town, but the New Mexico crowds that love and adore her could only take her so far. She auditioned for The Voice to get exposure to a much larger audience. It worked, and Kelly Clarkson quickly turned around and added the teen to her team.
Chevel’s big win
Chevel became one of the youngest contestants to win on The Voice. She beat out Chris Kroeze, a 27-year-old singer, and songwriter who worked with Blake Shelton during the season. Kroeze plays over 200 shows per year and has even traveled to perform for troops in the Middle East. Chevel’s competition was indeed stiff, but she wowed the world with a powerful voice, a playful attitude and a desire to take her musical gift to the masses.
Clarkson was overjoyed by the youngster’s big win, noting that the two have become friends and text regularly. Clarkson stated that while the teen was too young to drink, she would be having a drink in her honor. Chevel is Clarkson’s second win on the show. Brynn Cartelli won the previous season of the show. She beat out Britton Buchanan.
The show’s winner gets a big payday to go with all the notoriety, too. Chevel, as the winner of the 15th season, will receive $100,000 in prize money, as well as a recording contract. The teen will also receive further mentorship from her coach, Kelly Clarkson, as she works on her album and begins performing at larger venues.
Chevel said, during the season finale, that she was most looking forward to not having to do chores for a while. The teen will return to school to complete her high school career, but there are undoubtedly big things coming from the pint-sized wonder in the future.
