How Prince Harry and Prince William’s Relationship Changed After Meghan Markle

Rumors of a Prince Harry and Prince William feud have shown no signs of ending anytime soon and, if a new report is to be believed, things may never be the same for the brothers again. A royal expert explained that part of the strain on their relationship came when Meghan Markle entered the picture.

Did the brothers’ feud start over Meghan Markle?

Last year, it was reported that Harry and William’s rift began the previous Christmas, when Prince Harry felt that Wiliam hadn’t done enough to include Meghan in the family.

A source told Vanity Fair’s royal reporter Katie Nicholl, author of Harry & Meghan: Life, Loss, and Love: “Harry felt William wasn’t rolling out the red carpet for Meghan and told him so.” The insider added: “They had a bit of a fall out which was only resolved when Charles stepped in and asked William to make an effort. That’s when the Cambridges invited the Sussexes to spend Christmas with them.”

Will Prince Harry and Prince William’s rift end?

Prince Harry and Prince William may have put that dispute behind them, but Nicholl told Cosmopolitan recently that their relationship has “definitely” changed.

Nicholl explained: “There were clearly tensions, and I think that things are better now.” She added, “I don’t know that things will ever be the way they were between William and Harry.”

Nicholl continued: “The truth, as I was told from two very good sources who have known the boys for a long time, was that for the first time their relationship had really become stuck… there was quite a bit of tension between them.”

Was William to blame for the tension?

While it’s common for families to have some drama from time to time, Nicholl noted that it was William who kicked off the tension, as she shared that he “urged some caution in a well-meaning brotherly fashion” when Prince Harry and Markle began to get serious.

Though William was looking out for his brother, Harry reportedly wasn’t so receptive to receiving the advice, as Nicholl shared it didn’t “go down at all well with Harry, who felt that his brother wasn’t behind him.”

As a result, their relationship has “definitely” changed, though publicly they appear to be on good terms, even stepping out together with their dad Prince Charles at a recent event.

The truth about Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s reported feud

The media continues to focus on a feud between Kate Middleton and Markle, with royal filmmaker Nick Bullen explaining why these types of headlines grab attention. Bullen explained to Fox News “that it’s a much sexier story to have two duchesses at war.”

He added: “Let’s have these two super glamorous women — one British, one American. One an actress, one sort of an English rose. Let’s put them against each other… that’s the sexy sort of media story.”

Bullen further shared that though the media focus tends to be on the wives, “It’s actually that William and Harry have had a rift.” He explained that this isn’t that uncommon in families, noting, “I think you know, look. All brothers fall out. All families fall out. Their fallout at the moment is becoming public.” He chalks it up mainly to “two grown men in their 30s, starting their own families,” who “are moving to different parts of the country, different duties.”
