How royal fans celebrated Harry’s first Father’s Day

A few days before Father’s Day, royal fans decided to give the first time dad a virtual baby shower.

Good Morning America noted that social media users took to the platforms using the hashtag #HappyFathersDayPrinceHarry and urged others to donate to two of the charities the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are involved with. One is called Scotty’s Little Soldiers, which is to help children who have lost a parent serving in the British Armed Forces, and the other is the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust. Markle is the vice president of the latter charity and its mission is to support young leaders in Commonwealth countries.

The hosts of The Sussex Set podcast, Tina and Michelle, who set up and helped get the word out to fans dubbed the “Sussex Squad,” spoke to GMA about why they wanted to honor the duke this way.

“We are honoring Prince Harry’s first Father’s Day because, like the Duchess of Sussex, he uses his platform to bring remarkable attention to global issues such as the welfare of servicemen and women, mental wellness, environmental conservation, gender equality in education, and HIV/AIDs,” they said, adding, “Hopefully, this campaign lets him know that we see him and that we appreciate his and Meghan’s dedication to service.”

This isn’t the first time donations poured in for the prince’s charities via a virtual baby shower. Back in March, the Sussex Squad members organized a “surprise shower” for the pair ahead of Archie’s arrival using the hashtag #GlobalSussexBabyShower. Their generosity did not go unnoticed as the royal couple took to Instagram to acknowledge and thank them.

How the prince celebrated his first Father’s Day

So how did Prince Harry celebrate his first Father’s Day with baby Archie? Well, he started with an adorable new photo of his little bundle of joy. The image of Archie clutching the prince’s finger was posted on the official Sussex Royal account.

People reported that Harry is believed to have celebrated the day privately at the family’s cottage home in Windsor just relaxing and spending time with Markle and Archie.

The publication also noted that friends of the royal said that Harry is in a “sheer state of delight” over the birth of his son and “can’t imagine life without [him].”

Harry’s good pal, professional polo player Nacho Figueras, recently gave more insight on how the prince is handling fatherhood and said he’s “amazing.”

“He seems to be really, really happy so I’m very happy and excited for him,”
Figueras shared. “I’ve been saying this for a long time, he’s a person that loves children. I’ve seen him interact with children for a very long time in all these things that we do in Africa so I’m not surprised he’s an amazing father.”
