How Queen Elizabeth Could Force Princess Beatrice to Marry in England Instead of Her Choice of Italy
Princess Beatrice is reportedly dreaming of an Italian wedding with her fiancée, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, but not if Queen Elizabeth has her way. Royal experts believe that Elizabeth will force Beatrice to tie the knot in England because she refuses to fly across Europe. But will Princess Beatrice accommodate Her Majesty at the expense of her husband?
Princess Beatrice wants an Italian wedding
There is no denying that Princess Beatrice now has a lot of ties to Italy. Not only is her future husband from the country (along with his aristocrat family), but he also proposed to Princess Beatrice in an Italian village called Positano.
According to Daily Mail, Ingrid Seward, an expert on the royal family, believes that Beatrice and Mozzi would like to get married in Italy. The two apparently love spending time in the region, and she thinks it would make a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony.
“I think in her heart Beatrice would like to be married in Italy where Edo’s from, but there’s no way the Queen will fly to Europe for the wedding so it will have to be in England,” Seward shared.
Seward noted that Princess Beatrice is a people pleaser and will likely attempt to accommodate everyone on her big day. Although the new groom and bride would love to exchange vows in his home country, Queen Elizabeth’s desires may dictate otherwise.
Queen Elizabeth forces an English wedding
Despite Beatrice’s wishes, Queen Elizabeth is reportedly forcing her to have the wedding in England. Her Majesty is now well into her 90s and only flies out of the country on rare occasions.
With Princess Beatrice being ninth in line to the throne, it would be a big deal if Queen Elizabeth missed out on the ceremony. So more than likely, Princess Beatrice and Mozzi will tie the knot in England rather than Italy.
This is not the most ideal of circumstances, but at least the two got to share their engagement in his home country. Hopefully, all of his family can fly out to the wedding if it is held in England.
If the wedding is held in England, the big question is where. Seward argued that the nuptials will not be held inside Westminster Abbey – the same place where Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot – and will likely take place at St. George’s Chapel.
As royal watchers will recall, this is the same venue where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle exchanged vows in 2018.
The only problem with St. George’s Chapel is that Princess Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie, used it as a venue for her wedding last year. Princess Beatrice will have to ensure that her wedding looks completely different to avoid unwanted comparisons.
Inside Princess Beatrice’s wedding plans
While nothing official has been confirmed, Seward believes that Princess Beatrice will go for a more traditional wedding and a simple dress. Princess Beatrice is no stranger to fashion criticisms, so opting for a more elegant look is probably a good idea.
Prince George and Mozzi’s son, Christopher “Wolfie” Woolf, will likely be pageboys for the ceremony. Mozzi shares his son with his former lover, Dara Huang.
Princess Beatrice and Mozzi have not announced an official wedding date, but they are expected to exchange vows sometime next year.
Several members of the royal family congratulated the couple on their engagement. This includes Beatrice’s parents, Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, who expressed their excitement about the coming wedding on social media.
Mozzi’s parents also got in on the action. Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi and Nikki Williams-Ellis said they were delighted to find out about the engagement and are looking forward to their son tying the knot.
They also noted that Princess Beatrice has known Mozzi for a long time and that they make the perfect couple.
Beatrice and Mozzi started dating last year and have reportedly known each other since they were children. As for his previous relationship, Mozzi and Huang welcomed their son in 2016. Although their relationship did not work out, they appear to be in good standing with each other.
Princess Beatrice has not commented on the rumors surrounding her wedding. Queen Elizabeth and the royal family will likely keep a tight lid on the wedding details until we get closer to the event.
