The comedy about the Rose family is one of many TV shows that got help from Netflix. More people were able to watch it and now many are waiting for more seasons to be released to stream.

Dan Levy told Entertainment Weekly that he realized this change in 2018. The star said, “The show has been well-known in Canada for some time, but it’s only been in the last little while that I’ve been walking down the street in the U.S. and people have come up and said either ‘I love your show’ or ‘Thank you.’ I never know what to say.”

It’s been announced that the show will end with season six. However, people are still waiting for the fifth season to be released on Netflix. It’s been announced that the season will be available to stream starting on Oct. 10.

These are the first nominations for Pop TV

The show took some time to grow a fandom because it’s on Pop TV. Now it has managed to make history for the network with earning its first set of nominations.

Schitt’s Creek is nominated for best comedy. Catherine O’Hara is nominated for best actress in a comedy as Moira Rose. Eugene Levy is nominated for best actor in a comedy as Johnny.

The show also was nominated for best contemporary costumes, which makes sense given how fashionable the Rose family is and Moira’s extensive wig collection.

“The momentum going into the final season of Schitt’s Creek couldn’t be more amazing and what a way to celebrate six years of groundbreaking, critically acclaimed, fan adored work,” Pop TV President Brad Schwartz said in a statement according to Deadline.

The statement continued, “The support of this series, driven by one of the most loyal and passionate fan bases on television, has clearly captured the attention of the Industry and we’re thrilled that the entire Schitt’s Creek team is being recognized in this way.”

There is a lot to celebrate with the nominations, but it’s interesting to look at the odds.

Levy is up against Bill Hader for Barry, Don Cheadle for Black Monday, Anthony Anderson for Black-ish, Ted Danson for The Good Place, and Michael Douglas for The Kominsky Method.

O’Hara is competing against Christina Applegate in Dead To Me, Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Fleabag, Nathasha Lyonne for Nadia, Rachel Brosnahan for Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Veep.

The best comedy series category also includes Barry, Fleabag, Russian Doll, The Good Place. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Veep.

The biggest threats would be Julia Louis-Dreyfus and her show, Veep. The HBO comedy currently has 17 Emmy wins under its belt. The star has won best actress in a comedy series six times just for playing Selina Meyer.

Fans will have to wait and see what and who will take home the statue. The award show airs on Sept. 22 on Fox starting at 8 p.m. EST.
