How Scott Disick Makes Co-Parenting ‘Work’ With Kourtney Kardashian

Co-parenting can be a difficult challenge for any pair of parents to navigate, but it has to be especially hard when every move you make takes place in the public eye. One celebrity pair that has mastered co-parenting is Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick. Even though both Kardashian and Disick are scrutinized and documented by their fans and critics alike, the two are able to set aside any differences and avoid the drama that could hurt their kids.

Disick and Kardashian started dating back in 2006. While they faced some up and downs and had an on-again-off-again relationship, they were together for more than ten years and have three children together. Disick was a primary participant in many episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, so their relationship—at its best and at its worst—was on display for the world to see.

Disick was only in his mid-twenties when the pair got together, and many of the problems in the relationship centered around his immaturity. His attention toward other women was a recurring problem, and when the pair finally split for good in 2015, it was because of rumors that Disick was partying with multiple women. Many fans of the show and the couple continue to hold out hope that they will end up together, but these hopes seem to be focusing on a past version of the duo that no longer exists.

Today, Kardashian sees him as much more mature and focused. He also seems to have settled down, and rumors are even swirling that he may soon propose to his current girlfriend, Sofia Richie

Recently, Disick interviewed with ET’s Lauren Zima as part of his promotion for the upcoming reality series Flip it Like Disick, which will follow his real estate efforts. Throughout the interview, Disick revealed just how he and Kardashian have put in serious effort together to make their co-parenting work. While he admits that it did not happen immediately, Disick and Kardashian seem to have created a real display of co-parenting success.

It may look like Disick and Kardashian have taken to the task of parenting separately with ease. After all, the two even vacationed together with their children and Disick’s girlfriend. This kind of surprising cooperation and friendliness is enviable, but Disick admits it wasn’t easy to get there. The pair even went to therapy together to work through the issues they faced when they both started dating other people. The work, though, is worth the reward. Disick remarked: “You can easily live less of a life without working as hard, and that’s up to you.”

They had to learn to separate out their friendship from their former romantic relationship. On top of that, they had to work through the practical problems of parenting together when they weren’t physically together. Setting up rules and routines that match in both households is crucial to keeping things running smoothly. They also both welcome each other into their homes to see the children, allowing for openness and the crucial sense of family.

Disick and Kardashian may be associated with a family famous for putting themselves in the spotlight, but when it comes to their children, they are both putting themselves last and focusing on the kids first. Their dedication to providing a loving, caring family for their children is inspiring and helps provide a model for drama-free co-parenting that has their fans watching from afar impressed.
