How Ted Danson Spoiled ‘The Good Place’ for John Krasinski
In The Good Place, Ted Danson stars as Michael, a reformed demon. Known for its twists and turns, The Good Place is currently in its fourth and final season. On a recent episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, Danson revealed how he spoiled one of the show’s twists for John Krasinski.
Ted Danson told John Krasinksi what happens in ‘The Good Place’
On Late Night with Seth Meyers, Danson sat down with Meyers to talk about the final season of The Good Place. Meyers brought up the well-known twist and turns of the show and asked Danson if he ever spoiled plot lines of The Good Place. Danson admitted he had, and he told Meyers he spoiled the twist of the first season finale to Krasinski.
“I’m a little competitive with him,” Danson said. “I only compete with people who I can’t possibly ever win with.”
Danson continued, “He’s going off to make a big action movie, and he said ‘What are you doing?'”
After Krasinski asked what Danson’s next project was, Danson explained he would be working on The Good Place with Michael Schur.
“And I could see his eyes go, ‘Oh, yeah, The Office, but in heaven. Yeah, I got it. I got it.’ And I went ‘No, no. It turns out that I’m actually a demon at the end of the first season.’ And I saw him light up and go ‘Oh, that’s interesting.’ I go ‘Yeah!'”
Ted Danson feels confident about the show’s ending
While Danson did not spoil how the series ends on Late Night with Seth Meyers, he did discuss the show’s ending with Meyers.
“Are you confident with how it ended?” Meyers asked.
“Very, very,” Danson said.
Right now, fan theories are floating around online about how the show will end. Already, some fans have predicted what they think the twists and turns of the fourth season will be. Regardless of what happens, it seems the cast and crew of The Good Place are happy with the way it ends.
It was hard for the cast of ‘The Good Place’ to say goodbye
On Late Night with Seth Meyers, Danson and Meyers talked about how The Good Place is different than other shows. While a lot of shows run until networks decide the cancel the show, The Good Place is ending the way Schur envisioned.
“And it was so elegant because usually you get canceled when you think you’re going back,” Danson said. “And it’s like, last minute. You didn’t say goodbye.”
He continued, “This was lovely ’cause we knew the whole time we were shooting the last season, we knew it was our last… So, it was really lovely. We got to be in the moment, enjoying each other, knowing it was coming to an end.”
Meyers asked Danson if filming the last season of The Good Place was as emotional as filming the last season of Cheers.
“More, more,” Danson said.
