‘How to Get Away With Murder’: This Disturbing New Fan Theory About Hannah Keating Will Have You Rewatching the First Season

The latest episode of How to Get Away With Murder left a massive cliffhanger, as always. Now, fans are dying to know what happened between Sam Keating (Tom Verica) and his sister, Hannah Keating (Marcia Gay Harden).

It looks like Vivian Maddox (Marsha Stephanie Blake) is about to spill everything to Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) when the show returns for it’s last few episodes on April 30, 2020.

‘How to Get Away With Murder’ Season 6, Episode 12 ended with a twist

“I know who started the war against you, and it wasn’t the FBI or the governor,” Gabriel’s mother, Vivian, told Annalise in the last few minutes of the episode.

Annalise is not impressed by Vivian blaming Sam’s sister, Hannah, for starting the project against her. She attorney knows that Hannah always hated her — this isn’t news.

“Do you know why she hates you? So, you don’t know?” Vivian asks. “What happened with her and Sam?”

The scenes from next week’s episode show Annalise and Vivian together talking about what happened. However, it ends abruptly when Annalise tosses Vivian out of her apartment.

Vivian tells her something disturbing that she doesn’t want to believe. However, later on, she also tells Frank (Charlie Weber) and Bonnie (Liza Weil) that “anything is possible.”

Fans believe that Hannah Keating ordered the hit on Lila Stangard, not Sam Keating

“A theory that I have had since the finale of season 1 is that Sam actually called Hannah and not Frank,” wrote one Reddit user. “When Sam said on the phone, ‘You owe me,’ he asked to protect Lila because he really wanted to start a new family with her.”

So, fans are beginning to think that Hannah knew about Sam’s affair; however, they believe she was jealous and begged Frank to kill Lila.

“I always thought the reveal scene of Lila’s killer was weird like Sam ended the phone call at the same time that Lila was being killed,” continued the fan.

Other Redditors agree with the original poster. The scene was one that didn’t make sense, so fans believe it might come up again in the finale. That would also explain why the How to Get Away With Murder Instagram account is reviewing the killers in that first season again.

What is Hannah Keating’s motive for killing Lila Stangard?

“It would make people suspicious of Annalise if her husband’s mistress died,” another viewer wrote.

Hannah ordering the murder of Lila was only the beginning of Hannah’s grand plan to take down Annalise. This theory explains why Vivian is ready to reveal everything about Hannah to Annalise in the final scene of episode 12.

“For some reason, I always go back to this scene too,” another Redditor agreed. “The sequence of events easily leads us to assume that Sam was talking to Frank when he said, ‘Take care of that. You owe me.’ We know the reason why Frank would owe Sam something that big.”

“BUT, we don’t actually know Sam was talking to Frank, nor do we know that Frank killed Lila because Sam asked him to,” continued the fan. “[Showrunner] Pete Nowalk has taught us by now never to assume on this show, and this is something we may have been mistakenly assuming.”

We will find out if this fan theory is correct when How to Get Away With Murder returns on April 30, 2020.
