How to Tell If Queen Elizabeth Wants to Get Rid of Meghan Markle

Queen Elizabeth is the head of the royal family, so it’s no secret that her opinions matter a lot. By law, some royals who want to get married have to seek her approval before tying the knot. Though they do not need her permission to divorce, being on Queen Elizabeth’s good side during a divorce definitely comes with a lot of advantages.

Because Queen Elizabeth’s words are of the utmost importance, it can be a big issue when she does not like someone. Some royal fans believe that Meghan Markle could be on thin ice given the negative press that she has received. But could there really be a day when Queen Elizabeth wants Markle gone from the royal family? If so, how can we tell?

Queen Elizabeth once wanted Camilla Parker Bowles gone from the royal family

Long before anyone knew who Markle was, the negative press was focused on Camilla Parker Bowles. Parker Bowles rose to prominence as the woman who Prince Charles had an affair with during his marriage to Princess Diana. After Princess Diana passed away in 1997, Prince Charles wanted to pursue a serious relationship with Parker Bowles, though Queen Elizabeth strongly opposed to it.

Royal expert Penny Junor said: “The Queen had wanted her gone before Diana’s death and felt no differently after it. It was nothing personal. She had been very fond of Camilla in all the years she had been married to Andrew Parker Bowles – but it was Camilla who had been responsible, wittingly or not, for all the disasters that had befallen Charles since his marriage.”

There was even a time when Queen Elizabeth reportedly called Parker Bowles “a wicked woman” who she “wanted nothing to do with.” Of course, Queen Elizabeth eventually came around to supporting Prince Charles and Parker Bowles’ relationship and gave them permission to marry in 2005.

Queen Elizabeth has been very accepting of Meghan Markle

Unlike Parker Bowles, Markle did not get off on the wrong foot with Queen Elizabeth. In fact, it’s widely understood that Queen Elizabeth has been very fond of Markle since the very beginning.

For example, Queen Elizabeth has made a lot more efforts to welcome Markle into the royal family than she did for other royal spouses. Royal experts have also shared that the queen is quite impressed with Markle’s work ethics.

By many accounts, Her Majesty has a more friendly relationship Markle than she does with Kate Middleton. Queen Elizabeth has also broken protocols and traditions several times for Duchess Meghan, which shows that she cares a lot for Markle and her well-being.

This past year, Markle has been on the receiving end of many negative reports, to the point where she is currently the second least-popular member of the royal family. However, it does not seem as if this would be a reason for Queen Elizabeth to want to reject Markle.

The royal family and close friends of Markle have said that they believe racism is one of the main reasons why the press has been so cruel towards her. If anything, this would likely make Queen Elizabeth want to support Markle even more.

Anything could happen in the future, though. Queen Elizabeth might withdraw her support for the Duchess of Sussex if the latter decides to do something that could cause real embarrassment in the royal family. At that point, if Markle is still a working royal, Queen Elizabeth could choose to not attend events where the Duchess of Sussex is present (as she did for Camilla Parker Bowles in the 1990s). Markle might also not be invited to family gatherings like the annual Christmas celebration at Sandringham.
