How Tom Felton Feels About A ‘Harry Potter’ Reboot

Reboots and remakes seem to be popular in the entertainment world right now. Given the enduring popularity of the Harry Potter series, we might see a reboot soon enough. Daniel Radcliffe seems to think so. And it appears Tom Felton does as well.

Many hardcore Harry Potter fans probably have mixed feelings on the idea of a reboot, especially since the original movies are so loved. The fans might feel that to make a reboot would be to dishonor the original movies. There are also those who just don’t like change, and therefore wouldn’t accept anything different when it comes to Harry Potter.

How does Tom Felton feel, however, about a Harry Potter reboot? Find out, ahead.

How does Tom Felton feel about his ‘Harry Potter’ role?

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Tom Felton said that he is “endlessly proud and affectionate of young Draco.” He adds that “Any chance to reprise that role would be great.” He also mentions catching up with cast members such as Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, Bonnie Wright, and Matthew Lewis. According to the actor, he lives on “a bit of a Hogwarts alumni block,” as he regularly bumps into people like Bonnie Wright, Matthew Lewis, and Emma Watson.

Felton says that “It’s always a treat to see any of them, and the moment we get back into a room together it’s like no time has passed at all.” He also states that he and Watson often “reminisce about old times but also [discuss] looking forward to the future.” The actor then joked that “Rupert [Grint] should play Draco” in any future movies made.

Felton would then “play Hermione.” Daniel Radcliffe would “play Dobby,” while Watson would “be Hagrid.” According to him, “it’s the perfect re-casting!”

What does Tom Felton think about a ‘Harry Potter’ reboot?

When asked if Harry Potter will be rebooted in the future, Tom Felton replied “definitely.” According to Felton, the reboot probably wouldn’t be “for a while.” He believes that J.K. Rowling wouldn’t want “her films, her books rather and her films, to be remade anytime soon.” So Harry Potter fans unsure about a reboot shouldn’t worry too much.

However, Felton is “sure in 20 years when they’ve got 4D, scratch-and-sniff cinemas, or whatever, then they’ll want to do it all over again.”  And he’s likely right. It would almost be a shame for the series not to get some sort of resurgence eventually.

Would Tom Felton be involved in any reboot?

The actor does seem to want to be involved in any possible reboot. “My hope is that when they do it I’ll be old enough to play Lucius,” Felton tells the Daily Mail. According to him, he “would do it in a heartbeat.”

“Give it another 15 years,” he says “and I’ll come back and play Lucius.” That would be an interesting type of a reboot if it did happen like that. It would be a nice little gift for the fans of the original movies. Though any reboot might happen sooner rather than later, many Harry Potter fans would probably love to see Tom Felton as Lucius Malfoy.

So let’s hope that Hollywood can wait to reboot the beloved fantasy series. Because Tom Felton as Lucius might be a good enough reason for a reboot.
