How Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Son, Archie, Get Along With Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Children?

Two days after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their baby boy into the world the question on everyone’s mind has been answered. The new royal’s name is Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

The biggest mystery of all is now solved but many people still have a ton of questions about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first child. Of course, some of those are about his cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis and what kind of relationship the children might have.

The fact that Markle and Harry moved away from Kensington Palace coupled with all the rumors of feuds between the princes and their wives have many wondering if the little ones will be close at all. Here’s what we know.

How William and Kate Middleton reacted to news of the baby’s birth

Soon after the world learned baby Archie had arrived, Prince William and Kate Middleton gave their reaction to the news.

“Obviously thrilled, absolutely thrilled, and obviously looking forward to seeing them in the next few days when things have quietened down,” William said, before joking that he is “very pleased and glad to welcome my own brother into the sleep deprivation society that is parenting.”

When asked if he had any parenting tips for Harry, the duke answered, “Plenty of advice, plenty of advice, but no I wish him all the best and I hope the next few days they can settle down and enjoy having a newborn in their family and the joys that come with that.”

Archie will be raised much differently than his cousins

Given Archie’s distance from the throne in the line of succession, he will be raised much differently than his cousins.

Archie won’t be growing up with as many prying eyes watching his every move now that his parents live outside of London. This is one of the reasons why Markle and Harry chose to move to their Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. The couple also proved with their birthing plans that they like to keep things private so we probably won’t be seeing very much of Archie in public.

“While Meghan and Harry no doubt understand there will be intense public interest in their son or daughter they won’t parade him or her out as a royal trophy and will instead keep their public appearances to an absolute minimum,” said OK! Magazine’s royal editor Laura Hills.

Another major difference between Archie and the Cambridge kids is that he won’t have anywhere near the same amount of expectations placed on him as his cousins and can forge his own career path.

“While [Archie] will always be a senior member of the royal family and expected to attend big family events and represent them when required, they will have the freedom to go on to have a career of their own if they wish, just like Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice have done,” Hills explained.

They will share a unique bond

Despite the differences in their upbringing, Archie is the first cousin George, Charlotte, and Louis’ have and Middleton previously spoke about that.

“It’s such a special time to have little kiddies,” she told a fan during a walkabout. “And now a cousin for George, Charlotte, and Louis as well! It’ll be really special.”

We’re sure the kids are super excited to meet Archie and as the sons and daughter of two of the most famous princes in the world, they always share a bond that few can understand.
