How Willow Smith Feels About Jada Pinkett Smith Admitting To Her Relationship With August Alsina

Red Table Talk is back for another season and one major topic of discussion is Jada Pinkett Smith giving her side of the story regarding her past relationship with August Alsina. While Jada and Alsina’s relationship remains a controversial subject, Willow Smith is praising her mother for sharing her truth with the world.

During the premiere episode, Willow proudly boasts of her mother’s courage. Willow also says Jada and Will’s relationship is the epitome of true love. 

A recap of Jada Pinkett Smith’s revelation about her relationship with August Alsina

Jada and Will sat down for a special episode of Red Table Talk for Jada to discuss the years-long rumors about her relationship with Alsina. During the episode, Jada says she and Will were separated with the intention of divorcing as her friendship with Alsina progressed into something romantic.

The two met through Alsina’s friendship with Will and Jada’s son, Jaden. Rumors about Jada integrating Alsina into the Smith family were corroborated by family vacation photos. But, throughout their private romance, both Jada and Alsina insisted they were just friends.

Jada says her initial attraction to Alsina has much to do with her codependency issues and her desire to save people. She says her family helped link Alsina to services related to his mental health and substance abuse issues. The two comforted one another through their difficult times.

Alsina says the relationship lasted nearly four years. He hints to pulling away from Jada under the impression that she and Will were reconciling. Jada confirms that Alsina cut the relationship off nearly two years ago and the two haven’t spoken since.

The Red Table Talk episode came amid Alsina’s interview with Angela Yee in which he says Will gave him permission to be with Jada because they were no longer together. Will and Jada deny such and say the situation made their marriage stronger.

Many wondered how Jada speaking about the relationship with Alsina would affect her children, especially since Jaden and Alsina were close friends at one point. One person who is positively impacted by Jada’s truth is her daughter, Willow.

During the Sept. 28 episode of Red Table Talk, Willow praises Jada for her bravery.

“I want to put it on the table, I’m so proud of you,” Willow tells Jada. “To be able to see you and Dad do that, for me, that was like, OK, that’s the real deal. That’s real love.’”

Willow, as well as Jada’s mother Adrienne, are co-hosts of the show, which tackles a variety of issues through the lenses of three different generations of women. Willow and Adrienne were absent from the episode in which Jada and Will spoke of Alsina.

Speaking of her parents’ love for one another, Willow says, “Like, when you can be like, ‘I’m with you. I’m going to stand by you and I’m going to hold your hand because I love you, that’s what we do,’ that’s really important.”

Jada’s mom echoed Willow’s sentiments, telling Jada that she’s courageous.
