If You Love Justin Hartley in ‘This Is Us,’ You’ll Love Him In These Other TV Shows
If you’re a fan of This Is Us, chances are you’ve seen Justin Hartley before he landed the role of Kevin Pearson on the hit NBC show. From the paranormal to the scandalous, Hartley has played quite a few popular television shows.
In a 2016 interview, Hartley told Glamour magazine that he often gets recognized for his past roles, “It’s interesting because I’ll be out, and someone will say, ‘I just loved you on Passions! Did you just quit acting after that?’ [Laughs] I don’t know what to say so sometimes I’ll just say yes. Some people will say Young and the Restless, Smallville, Revenge…it just
If you just can’t get enough of Hartley on This Is Us, we’ve gathered some of his most memorable roles for you to binge at your convenience.
If you’re a fan of superheroes, there’s no doubt you will recognize Hartley as Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow, in the hit CW series, Smallville. Hartley played the millionaire CEO turned superhero from 2006 to 2011. His character started out as an unlikeable rich boy but ultimately turned into a dependable friend and fighter for justice.
Anyone who has watched both Smallville and This Is Us will note that there are striking similarities between the characters. Both Oliver Queen and Kevin Pearson are fiercely loyal to those they love. When they care about someone, they go all in, which can sometimes get them in trouble.
If you haven’t watched Smallville, you’re in luck. All eleven seasons of the show are currently streaming on Hulu.
What is it about Hartley that always gets him cast as the handsome rich boy? We can take our guesses, but we’ll just leave it out there. In Mistresses, Hartley played a handsome plastic surgeon. Hartley’s character Scott was the love interest to Jess Macallan’s Joss.
Hartley’s character was far from the one we know on This Is Us. Executive producer Rina Mimoun called Scott “the nicest plastic surgeon in Los Angeles with a teeny tiny fetish… just enough to keep someone like Joss interested.” She continued, “He gets Joss to do the one thing she never thought she’d ever do.”
Hartley appeared in sixteen episodes between 2014 and 2016.
For soap opera fans, Hartley is none other than Fox Crane a handsome boy from a rich family in the quirky soap opera Passions. Though the show was canceled after only nine seasons (a relatively short run for a soap opera), the show was arguably one of the most important of Hartley’s career.
Not only was Passions Hartley’s first on-screen role, but it is also where he met co-star Lindsay Korman. Korman played Hartley’s love interest, Theresa Lopez Fitzgerald. Off-screen Hartley and Korman began dating in 2003. The couple married in May 2004 and welcomed a daughter just two months later. But things didn’t work out between the couple and they divorced in 2012.
Could Justin Hartley be the next James Bond? There’s a rumor circulating around that execs are looking for a new James Bond and Hartley is on the short list to play the part. Ellen DeGeneres asked the star whether the rumors are true and Hartley feigned surprise and kind of laughed off the idea.
Hartley joked that the talk show host ruined any chances he had at the role after she shared a picture of the actor in nothing but a birthday suit and a strategically placed birthday cake. He then went on to do a mock audition for the part with a martini the talk show host provided. Will Hartley be the next 007? For now, we can only wait and see.
