If You Love ‘This Is Us’ You Might Like These Shows Too

The season finale of This Is Us aired this week. In the last episode of season 3, we got to finally find out who “her” was and the emotionally-charged finale that has many fans already counting down the days until the season 4 premiere airs on NBC.

While there is no word just yet on when season four will air, if you’re looking for another TV show that delivers the laughs and the tears that This Is Us does, then luckily there are quite a few shows on air today that will give you the same feels that the NBC smash hit does.

1.) ‘Parenthood’

Parenthood is a heartwarming TV show that portrays the true meaning of love and family the same way that This Is Us does. The show — now off air — follows the lives of the Braverman family. Zeek and Camille Braverman are the matriarch and patriarch of the family. Together, they have four children who each have families of their own. This show takes an in-depth look onto the ups and the downs that most families face from time to time and delivers it in a sensitive, and sometimes funny, way.

The show, which first premiered in 2010, was later canceled in 2015 after a six-season run. However, you can still stream the entire series on Netflix.

2.) ‘Divorce’

Divorce currently airs on HBO. It stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church, who play a married couple that is going through a divorce. The show takes a realistic look at what many couples with children have to face when going through a permanent split. Although it covers a heavy and sad topic, the show has figured out a way to creatively add subtle hints of humor while also making the plot and the dialogue realistic.

Divorce just wrapped up its second season, but HBO has announced that the show is being renewed for a third. If you want to catch up on the first two seasons before season 3 goes live, you can stream it on Amazon.com.

3.) ‘The Fosters’

If you are looking for a show that showcases love and unity within a family, then you will definitely want to check out The Fosters. The show gives its viewers a closer look at just how diversity within the family unit can be both challenging and rewarding. Delving into the lives of a biracial lesbian couple, The Fosters explores what it is like for a couple that is raising their children — both biological and foster — in a world where stereotypes and judgment from others can affect every member of the family. This show has a perfect mix of drama and heartwarming moments that will keep you entertained and make you want to binge-watch an entire season just so you can see what happens next.

The complete series of The Fosters is available on Netflix.

4.) ‘Party of Five’

This show was a fan-favorite back in the 90s and it spotlighted the true definition of love and sacrifice. The series is about a family of five siblings that tragically loses both of their parents. Their oldest brother, Charlie Salinger (played by Matthew Fox), takes over the role of his parents and cares for his four younger siblings. Each episode delivers a high amount of drama and suspense, as the show tries to cover some very heavy topics like domestic abuse and alcohol addiction.

You can watch the entire six-season series of Party of Five on Amazon Prime.

If you are sad that you will have to wait an entire summer before you can watch new episodes of This Is Us, then check out these TV shows that are listed above. They are guaranteed to help feel the emotional void that This Is Us may have left.
