Inside Baby Archie’s First Christmas: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Gifts Were Surprisingly Simple
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took a well-deserved break from the spotlight and royal family traditions for the holidays, leaving many royal fans wondering what baby Archie got for his first Christmas. An insider claims that the couple went with simple gifts for their little one this year.
Baby Archie’s first Christmas gifts were pretty normal
Prince Harry and Markle definitely could have showered Archie with expensive gifts but, according to an insider, they kept things simple.
A source gave an update about the baby, telling Us Weekly: “Archie is Meghan and Harry’s world, and they can’t help it. For Christmas, they bought him books, building blocks, a baby ball pit… It’s not all about extravagant gifts for them.”
As a baby develops, his personality begins to emerge and it seems that Archie is very much like his dad. The insider noted: “You can tell Archie’s going to be a confident social butterfly. He loves being entertained and interacting with people. Some children get shy or nervous around new people, but not Archie. He’ll go to anyone without kicking up a fuss!”
Some of that personality was seen in their adorable Christmas card!
Archie is approaching a huge milestone
The last details given about baby Archie’s developmental milestones indicated that some exciting things are in store for the Sussexes.
An insider told Us Weekly in November: “He can sit up without support and roll over, and he’s almost crawling. He can’t talk yet, but he’s trying!”
The source noted at the time: “When Harry walks into the room, Archie gets so excited, he puts his arms out — his way of saying, ‘Pick me up!’ You can tell Archie’s going to be a social butterfly. He’s at his happiest when he’s around people. [He] rarely cries… He takes a keen interest in his surroundings and is already engaging and interacting with people. He loves to be entertained. And he isn’t a needy baby.”
Prince Harry and Markle have spent time away from their royal duties
There’s no doubt that the Sussexes’ decision to take some time away from the public eye has been the perfect opportunity for them to de-stress and enjoy quality family time.
Their spokesperson shared before Christmas that the family was “spending private time in Canada,” explaining: “The decision to base themselves in Canada reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to them both. Whilst this emails confirms the country they are taking their family time in, for security reasons we will not be releasing any further details and request that their privacy is respected.”
The statement added: “The Duke of Sussex has been a frequent visitor to Canada over many years, and it was also home to The Duchess for seven years before she became a member of the Royal Family. They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son.”
The Sussexes shared a new photo of Archie
As fans began to wonder when they’d catch their next glimpse of Archie, the Sussexes shared a heartwarming New Year’s message and video on Instagram that included a new photo of the baby.
In the pic, a beaming Prince Harry holds a happy baby Archie, all bundled up with a sweet hat, coat, and boots. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that the boots were given to Prince Harry and Markle when they visited Australia in October 2018.
Their caption notes: “Looking back at 2019… Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and thanking you for your continued support! We’ve loved meeting so many of you from around the world and can’t wait to meet many more of you next year. We hope 2020 brings each of you health and continued happiness.”
