Is ‘Black Lightning’ on Netflix? How to Stream the DC Comics Series Online
Watching shows on Netflix and other streaming services such as Hulu and Amazon Prime has become many people’s favorite way to pass the time. The reason these streaming services are popular, including Netflix, is that they give you a chance to watch a show on your own time. With Netflix, you don’t have to watch an episode every week at a certain time, but rather can watch a new episode whenever you want to.
Many DC fans may be wondering if they can find Black Lightning on the streaming service. While the show is not as well-known as let’s say Arrow or The Flash, it does do pretty well and likely has many fans who follow it excitedly. So, are you ready to find out if Black Lightning is on Netflix?
Is ‘Black Lightning’ on Netflix?
Are you ready? Black Lightning is on Netflix! Isn’t that great? This means you can stream Black Lightning any time you want to.
There may just be enough time to catch up on the show before season 3 starts. Luckily for fans, the show is coming back soon. Yet it means that if you want to be caught up by October 7th, you need to start streaming the show as soon as possible.
Where else can you stream the show?
Black Lightning is also available to watch on the CW’s website. Unfortunately, there are only 5 episodes on the site, so if you’ve missed all of season 1 and the beginning of season 2, you’re out of luck. You’ll have to hope that either the CW puts up all of the episodes or you’ll have to get Netflix. However, there is also another option.
If you don’t have Netflix, you can purchase seasons 1 & 2 of Black Lightning on Amazon, and will most likely be able to do the same once season 3 starts. If you buy it by episode, each one is $2.99, while if you purchase the whole season it’s $24.99. While that may not seem like the best option, it is an option and it’s important to know all your options before making a decision.
How successful is ‘Black Lightning’?
Black Lightning may not be as well known as other DC shows, yet it’s doing pretty well for itself. According to TV Series Finale, the first season of Black Lightning was a hit for The CW. It came in second in the channel’s 18-49 demographic and third in terms of total audience size. The second season comes in seventh in demographics, which is two below Arrow and one above DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
As far as the ratings go, the pilot episode of season one had 2.305 million viewers while the series finale had 1.678 million viewers. This may seem like a large gap, but for comparison, the second episode had 1.941 million viewers which is also down from the first episode. It is perfectly normal for shows to lose some viewers between the pilot and the finale. Season 2 did slightly less well, getting 1.161 million views for the first episode and 845,000 for the season finale.
However, the ratings are clearly good enough for the CW since they decided to renew the show and bring it back for season 3. So Black Lightning is still relatively successful. And yes, it is available to stream on Netflix, the CW, and Amazon.
