Is Cersei Lannister Really Pregnant On ‘Game Of Thrones’?

We can’t believe we are writing this, but Game of Thrones has finally returned. The eighth and final season of the HBO fantasy epic will premiere on April 14, 2019. With just six episodes until the conclusion –we are already overwhelmed.

There are so many questions that still need answers during the final season of Game of Thrones. However, we do know that the Long Night is about to come bearing down on Westeros. Daenerys Targaryen and her new love (who also just happens to be her nephew), Jon Snow, are headed to Winterfell together, the White Walkers and their terrifying Army of the Dead have entered the realm, and apparently, Cersei Lannister –the diabolical queen who is currently sitting on the Iron Throne is pregnant. But is Cersei Lannister actually pregnant with her twin brother Jamie Lannister’s child?

Is Cersei Lannister really pregnant on Game of Thrones?

Cersei revealed to her twin brother Jamie in Season 7 of Game of Thrones that she is pregnant with their fourth child. Considering how terribly that all went the first three times (all of their kids are dead), we don’t know why she would do this. Therefore, GoT fans (and Jamie) are super skeptical.

At first, it appeared that Cersei was telling the truth about being pregnant. In the scene where she revealed her pregnancy to Jamie, the script reads, “She nods, it’s true. [. . .] Her happiness is contagious. They get another chance at family. This time with no one standing in their way.” Also later, when she’s talking to her little brother Tyrion, he notices that she isn’t drinking any wine. (Wine is Cersei’s absolute fav.) The script reads, “Tyrion sees what he sees and knows what it means. He can hardly believe it, but knows it to be true. [. . .] She stays silent for too long, long enough to tell him that he’s right.”

However, in previews from Season 8 of Game of Thrones –Cersei is seen crying over a glass of wine glass, and with the White Walkers and the Army of the Dead breaking down The Wall we doubt that Cersei or her alleged baby will be safe for much longer.

Will Cersei die in childbirth?

If Cersei is pregnant–there is a major chance that she could die during childbirth. In Season 5 of Games of Thrones –there was a flashback of Cersei as a child.  A witch named Maggy the Frog told the Lannister queen, “Three [children] for you. Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds. And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar (“Little Brother”) shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.”

All of Cersei’s children, Joffrey, Tommen, and Myrcella Baratheon (who were all fathered by brother Jaime), are now dead.  Therefore, the first half of Maggy’s prophecy has come true.  Redditor CashWho suggested

She’s definitely gonna die in childbirth right? The kid will be a male, thus fulfilling the “Little Brother” requirement and she’ll be dead, thus fulfilling the “only have 3 children” requirement. Couple that with her dying the way Tyrion was born and we’ve got us some wonderful poetic justice imo.
