Is Chelsea Handler Single? Find Out Who the Comedian Is Dating
Is she connected to anyone? Who is she dating? Well it’s not a secret anymore. We have all the details on how Handler views relationships, and who she’s dating.
Chelsea Handler is comfortable being single
For Handler, being single is something to be proud of. Evidenced by the article Handler wrote for Time, she believes that if you see a single woman, you should congratulate her.
“Next time you see a single woman,” Handler wrote, “instead of asking her where her boyfriend, husband or eunuch is, congratulate her on her accomplished sense of self and for reaching the solitary mountaintop by herself without a ring on her finger weighing her down like a male paperweight.”
Accepting and embracing your relationship status is a wonderfully secure way to live your life. However, Handler may have taken it a little too far. On an episode of The Talk, she explained that with the help of a therapist, she came to realize that admitting you want a relationship is not weak, or an indication that you aren’t happy with yourself.
“I have changed my mind about being open to relationships,” Handler said. “Because I thought I was tough for a really long time, and what I learned through therapy is that being really tough is actually being vulnerable and being able to admit that you really want to be in a relationship. I thought I would sound weak if I said that. And, listen, I have a pretty good life, so I’m happy if I don’t have a relationship. But I’d love to find somebody to love.”
There’s no shame in wanting a partner to love, and it doesn’t mean that you aren’t secure or happy being by yourself. It’s nice to know that Handler has reached a place where she realizes that and is okay with herself regardless of her relationship status.
What does Handler look for in a guy?
When Handler is looking for a date, she has a very particular type of guy that she’s interested in. She likes older men, and men that can throw her around (respectfully). Even though Handler is a strong woman, she admits that she likes a guy show can be in charge, and that may be why she’s attracted to older guys. In her memoir, Life Will Be the Death of Me, Handler explains her preference in men.
“I want to be thrown around on a bed (in a loving way),” Handler wrote in her book, “while also being told to shut the f**k up when I’m being obnoxious. I know that’s not a popular thing to say in the current climate, but that’s what I like. Young guys won’t do that. I want to be dominated — by an older man — but in the past couple of years, I’ve had no choice but to start dipping into younger guys just because that’s what the Lord keeps putting before me.”
Handler also has an attraction to black men. On The Howard Stern Show, she explained that her father liked black women, and she may have inherited the gene from him.
“Black guys are very, very masculine,” she said, and that’s something she finds very appealing. Handler went on to explain that she really likes a guy who can take charge, and black men are usually willing to do that.
Who has Handler dated?
Handler’s preference in men explains why she was attracted to rapper 50 Cent, who she dated for a short time. It was her most high profile relationship, but it didn’t last long.
On The Howard Stern Show, Handler explained that they broke up when 50 Cent’s ex-girlfriend, Ciara, was scheduled to appear on Handler’s talk show. 50 Cent kept calling Handler to tell her all about how Ciara wanted him back. According to 50 Cent, Ciara would often call him, asking him to break things off with Handler and return to her.
It was all too much for Handler to handle. She compared it to eighth-grade drama, and told 50 Cent she was too good for him (In not so many words). Handler never heard from him again.
Although she hasn’t had many serious relationships, Handler has been connected to several men over the years. Canadian animal trainer, Dave Salmoni, NBC chairman, Ted Harbert, and businessman Andre Balazs have all dated Handler in the past.
For now, she’s single and looking for love. But if she doesn’t find it, Handler is 100% okay with loving herself.
