Is Kate Middleton or Prince William the Dominant Partner in Their Royal Marriage?

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William are one of the most beloved couples in the royal family. They have been married since 2011 and for the most part, have managed to avoid controversy.

While other royal couples, such as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry, have gone through a lot of issues with the public and press, Kate and Prince William are a stalwart beacon of positivity to the people of England. Fans remain incredibly curious about the couple, and eager to learn about the dynamic of their relationship — and especially what goes on behind closed doors.

Kate Middleton and Prince William have been together for two decades

Prince William was one of the world’s most eligible young bachelors when he began attending the University of St. Andrews. During the early days of his tenure there, he met an athletic brunette: Kate.

The two hit it off right away and began dating sometime around the year 2002. Although they were able to keep their relationship under wraps during the early years, the press eventually caught wind of their romance.

Fortunately, Kate proved that she was up to the challenge and the intense scrutiny that her relationship with Prince William began receiving. The young couple broke up briefly for a couple of months, but quickly reunited, and within the next few years, they grew stronger than ever.

In late 2010, Prince William popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, and to no one’s surprise, she said yes.

Many royal fans might expect that Prince William would be the “boss” in their relationship, considering he is set to be the future monarch of England — however, a recent interview with a body language expert reveals that, based on the couple’s interactions in public, Kate is definitely the one who wears the pants in their marriage. As the expert pointed out, Prince William seems happy to let Kate take the lead during their public appearances, and that Kate’s obvious confidence on red carpets points to the fact that she is a natural leader, and a woman ready to always “take charge.”

In addition to the way that the couple appears on royal engagements, they could be sending subtle messages in their yearly Christmas cards, as well. A recent report broke down the way that their cards have changed over the years, from their incredibly formal Christmas card that they unveiled in 2011 to their 2018 holiday photo, which featured Kate in the foreground, beaming with confidence.

The report states that the 2018 card could be a subtle way of showing Kate’s dominance in the family unit, from her sporty, informal outfit to the way that she is placed slightly in front of Prince William. Certainly, Kate’s place in the royal family has grown and developed over the years. These days, few fans could imagine what the royal family would even look like without graceful, confident Kate.
