Is Kim Kardashian West Still Trying to One-Up Kylie Jenner With Her Makeup Line?
For so long, it’s been speculated that the Kardashians sisters feel some type of way toward Kylie Jenner‘s ongoing success in the makeup industry.
The youngest KarJenner sister was able to take her passion for makeup and skincare and turn it into one of the biggest beauty empires in the world.
Now that Jenner is the world’s youngest billionaire and continuing to dominate the beauty industry, many people believe that Kim Kardashian West is doing everything she can to dethrone her younger sister.
Now that Kardashian West’s latest makeup launch is the talk of the town, many people can’t help but wonder if this was her way of one upping Jenner?
Kardashian just released a brand new KKW eyeshadow palette
Kim Kardashian West might have many favorite things in life but makeup has always been a passion of hers.
In June 2017, she launched her very own beauty line, KKW Beauty after working with Kylie Jenner on a special lip kit collaboration.
After the highly anticipated launch, KKW beauty was embraced by many, seeing as though it offered customers products that gave off a natural glam look, which is what Kardashian West is known for.
Over the past two years, KKW Beauty has launched Creme Contour & Highlight Kits, concealers, lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes, even the first ever Skin Perfecting Foundation which fans are still raving about.
According to International Business Times, KKW Beauty made an estimated $14.4 million just off of its first launch.
In 2018, the company was already making $100 million in revenue and with Kardashian West owning 100% of it, she was in close competition to Kylie Jenner in terms of their beauty product line.
While she continues to launch brand new makeup products every few months, Kardashian’s most recent launch has fans believing she’s trying to steal Jenner’s thunder.
The reality star recently announced that she has collaborated with her longtime makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, for a brand new eyeshadow palette.
Though the KKW x Mario palette has yet to be released, it seems a little suspicious that Kardashian announced this new palette just before Jenner shared some pretty exciting news.
Jenner recently expanding her makeup empire in a huge way
Just like her older sister, Jenner took her passion for all things makeup and turned it into one of the most successful beauty industries in the world.
In 2016, the youngest KarJenner sister launched Kylie Cosmetics after the global launch of her wildly successful liquid lipstick + lip liner duo, the Kylie Lip Kit.
After that, Jenner’s success in the beauty industry grew substantially with her company selling millions of dollars worth of makeup each year.
Once Kylie Cosmetics partnered with Ulta stores nationwide, the company’s revenue climbed 9% in 2018 to an estimated $360 million and soon the company was worth an estimated at $900 million.
Seeing as though Jenner owns 100% of her Kylie Cosmetics, her net worth grew substantially and in 2019, Forbes named her the world’s youngest self-made billionaire.
With her company continuing to reach new heights, the reality star recently made some huge changes to her company.
On November 18, Jenner sold a majority stake in her business to beauty conglomerate Coty for $600 million.
Are these sisters in competition with one another?
With both Kardashian and Jenner still dominating the beauty industry one makeup product at a time, the burning question many people have is “are these two sisters competing against each other?”
Seeing as though both of their companies are racking up big bucks and are two of the biggest makeup empires in the world, this has been an ongoing discussion.
Ever since Kardashian West launched KKW Beauty, many people have believe that this has caused some tension between the reality star and her younger sister.
While fans continued to look for any sign of drama between these two, Kardashian West recently revealed that she and Jenner have never competed against one another when it comes to their beauty empires.
Earlier this month, the mother of four made it very clear that she and Jenner are very supportive of each other and their careers.
Instead of competing against one another, Kardashian and Jenner are mindful of the other’s schedule so they don’t step on each other’s toes.
“If she [Kylie] is launching concealers and I am launching concealers, the would actually be such different products,” Kardashian told Andrew Ross Sorkin of The New York Times.
In addition to that, the two sister’s companies appeal to different types of people, which doesn’t give them a reason to compete with one another.
“We have different skin, age demographics… we use our products so differently that there has not been any competition even in sales wise,” Kardashian added.
Despite the rumors, the Kardashian-Jenner sisters continue to show people just how much they support each other’s endeavors.
No matter if one sister’s company makes more than the other, this famous family will always support one another and continue to prove those naysayers wrong.
