Is Meghan Markle Happy With the Way Her Life Turned Out?

Most little girls dream of being a princess when they grow up. It’s a fairy tale dream that eventually phases away as little girls grow into young ladies who realize that marrying an actual prince charming is probably out of the picture. Except, that is exactly what happened to American-born actress, Meghan Markle.

Despite living out almost every young girl’s dream, Meghan may be proof that marrying a prince isn’t a total fairy tale. Her battles with the press, her own family members, and even (supposedly) her new in-laws are proof of that. But is Meghan happy with the way her life turned out? Here’s what we know.

Meghan Markle was excited to be a royal from the start

Although most people would be all nerves about becoming a member of the royal family, sources close to Meghan state that this was never the case with her. A source told US Weekly that Meghan was “very excited about this role … You could argue that this job is her baby right now. It’s a job she wants to consider every element of and decision for very carefully.” This interview came shortly after she married Prince Harry and officially become a royal.

Harry has been key in helping his new bride adjust to royal life. The youngest son of Princess Diana has been both supportive and protective of Meghan, which appears to have made all the difference. Other royals have also been instrumental in Meghan’s adjustment: not only to royal life but life in the U.K., too. An article pointed out that Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Camilla, Prince William, and even Kate Middleton have been helpful during her transition.

Meghan Markle likes having the ability to change the world

One thing that Meghan has been very open about is how she likes the fact that her words and actions can now make some difference in the world. As the new wife of Harry, Meghan has more influence than she did as an American actress.

One thing she spoke up for was the lack of feminine hygiene products in developing countries. Meghan told The New York Times that she and Harry were “doing our part just to normalize the conversation.” She also spoke about how the topic was something that affected half the population, “so it’s a strange one that it’s ended up becoming so stigmatized.”

A source close to Meghan also spoke about the new royal’s charity work in Africa, and how much it means to her because of her roots. The source stated that Meghan “has always wanted to be a humanitarian who travels the world … She’s got her pick of where to go now and which charities to work with. She didn’t have that platform… when she was a celebrity.”

Meghan Markle doesn’t like having so many rules

Although the Duchess of Sussex is happy with most aspects of her life, there is one thing outside her tabloid battles that she is less than thrilled about – all the rules she now has to follow. Of course, this doesn’t seem to be too much of an issue, since Meghan is already known for bending or breaking those rules she doesn’t want to adhere to. This is very out of line with how a royal behaves, but some people argue it’s for the best.

Regardless of how people feel about it, Meghan has broken a number of rules. A few rules include painting her nails non-approved colors, opening/closing her own doors, and having an opinion about women’s reproductive rights when royals are not supposed to have any political opinions. Meghan has also worn a sleeveless dress and a cross-body bag, both of which are royal family fashion no-nos.
