Is Meghan Markle Vegan or Just a Healthy Eater?

It’s no secret that Meghan Markle leads a very active and healthy lifestyle. She reportedly gets up daily at the crack of dawn to do yoga and even will have a yoga studio built for her at Frogmore Cottage, Meghan and Prince Harry’s new home.

With recent reports going around about Meghan and Harry possibly raising their child vegan, many people are no doubt wondering more about how the Duchess of Sussex herself normally eats. Is she actually vegan? What are her eating habits like? Here’s what we know.

Meghan Markle tries to eat vegan on most days

Since Meghan used to work in Hollywood, being fit and staying healthy were naturally some of her top priorities. Instead of going on extreme diets, though, she opted to incorporate healthy food into her lifestyle.

She once shared that, as an actress, she tried to eat vegan as much as possible, but she was not strict about it. “When I’m filming, I’m conscious of what I eat,” Meghan said. “I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends.”

While a lot of her favorite food — such as salads, watermelons, and almonds — are on the vegan and healthy side, Meghan does not restrict herself. For example, she loves fries, pasta, poutine, and sushi. So she still allows herself to indulge in other fares.

With Meghan expecting a baby, she has made some changes to her diet and cut back on certain types of food. But there’s no doubt that she still tries to maintain as much of her old lifestyle as possible.

Meghan Markle has influenced Prince Harry’s eating habits

With Meghan, Harry has kicked some poor food choices to the curb as well. For much of his adult life, he was known as a party boy who drank alcohol, smoked and had a penchant for unhealthy food. That said, all that has changed.

After the two of them got married, Meghan began cooking for her and Harry almost every day, which means the couple often enjoys nutritious meals together. Their fridge is also reportedly stocked with things like carrots, hummus, and green juice, so Harry likely finds himself snacking on these healthy options much of the time.

He still loves eating pizza here and there, but there’s no doubt that Harry has been striving to lead a better lifestyle under Meghan’s good influence.

Are Meghan Markle and Prince Harry really raising their baby vegan?

According to a supposed palace insider, Meghan and Harry might be taking another progressive step in their parenting career and raise their child vegan. Some reports even say the couple might begin with just giving Baby Sussex a vegan diet and introduce more food as time goes on.

Reportedly, Queen Elizabeth is not happy to hear about this. Her Majesty (as well as many other royals) loves hunting, so having a family that seems to be against eating meat is not something that she wants.

“It’s created tense discussions between Meghan and Harry, who doesn’t want to upset his grandmother,” the source explained. “Meghan seems to have little regard for royal traditions but bringing the baby up as a vegan simply won’t be tolerated by the monarch.”

Since Baby Sussex is not even born yet, it still remains to be seen whether the child will be fully vegan or simply adhere to health, plant-based diets most of the time like Meghan. One thing we know for sure, though, is that with parents like Meghan and Harry, Baby Sussex will not grow up sitting on the couch all day and munching on junk food.
